I think the area of legalisation of same-sex partnerships is the main area where US and UK legislative attempts are widely differing. Here things are moving in a postive way, whereas with you they are going in the opposite direction it seems.

But then religion has a different grip on many of your countrymen (countrypeople?) I think...
