It’s funny that you wrote about former Presidents and their "legacy".
I was just thinking about how W. Bush seems to want to be remembered as the President who stopped terrorism.
In his single focused, all out effort to get that legacy, he has created greater terror for the people in New Orleans than any terrorist could have planed.
The citizens of New Orleans have lost homes, jobs, cars, physical safety, mental safety, loved ones, all possessions, mementos, their beautiful and beloved city and most devastating, their Government when it turned it's back on them in their days of greatest need. Those who survived still have lost their lives.
We knew the hurrican was coming, we knew what could happen to New Orleans. No surprises, except the greatest most unbelievable surprise, our Government's help just wasn't there.
It is my hope that W. Bush's true legacy is never forgotten.

I've added the quote most connected with each presidedent (if there was one) to each entry and I wonder what quote will be linked to Bush in years to come. This one,"I believe the most solemn duty of the American president is to protect the American people.," or this one, "Bring them on."?

Hey, hey, hey-- how dare you knock Warren Gamiel Harding??! I grew up in the small town that was home to his front porch campaign.
He was THE talk of town-- even by the time I came along. Just about every family in town has/had a connection to him. And to this day some folks are still very touchy about his presidency.
My take on him is that he was a nice guy, but incompetent. With a very pushy wife.
Shrub doesn't seem like a nice guy, but is incompetent. With a very nondescipt wife.
