I love that song too. The music is so clean and simple, soft and pretty. Uncomplicated.
I once saw an interview with one of the guys who wrote Impanema.
He said that he and some of his friends use to frequent a café not far from the ocean and kept seeing this beautiful young girl on her way to the beach after school had let out. She was so stunningly beautiful that everyone would watch her, but so young and innocent that she was completely unaware of her beauty and the attention it drew. One day he and one of his friends wrote a song about her.

I also love this song, and because of it have a few Astrud Gilberto tracks. Not near as great as this song though!

My husband teases me when I listen to my collection on similar music...

I love her version of "Fly Me To The Moon." And tell your husband that there is a difference between elevator music and Bossa Nova- elevator music is Bossa Nova gone bad.
