Your sister sounds like shes giving good advice. But is it better the devil you know ?
There have been alot of shootings in our area over the last few months, and I have to admit it has made me stop and think about were we live.

Joanne, the devil I know is in the city and I feel safer there. This rural culture is foreign to me. Sometimes I just don't understand the thinking out here.
I can imagine what you are going through with the shootings. I know having children would intensify my sensitivity to it.

small town nowhere is where I grew up. most of the people there were thicker than a $5.00 malt. and as a result were very unpredictable when confronted with new ideas, things.
give me the big city any day. i understand the dangers here much better. and don't feel so all alone.
why are you there anyhow? hometown? work?

Both my husband and I grew up in Denver. About 11 years ago a friend from California visited and I told him what a mess the Capital Hill People's Fair had been that year. There were so many people it was hard to walk around. He asked if it felt like everyone in the state had been there and I said yes it did. He then said, "Welcome to California."
That is when I realized the town I loved no longer existed and I turned to my husband and said, "We have got to move."
He agreed and we started looking at smaller towns and ended up here.
