Santiago Dreaming

How was your tea this morning?
And by the way, I only watched the news to sit next to mom.
And today I only watch soccor to sit next to my husband.
My favorite book when I was 10?
Do you know? I can't remember.
Also, I'm very impressed with your level of reading at 10. Do you still have it?

Gravatar How was your tea this morning?
It was warm and soothing.

Do you know?
I'd guess Millie the Model Comics. You were very big on Millie around that time.

Do you still have it?
A fifth grade reading level or the book?

Gravatar I can't remember either.

Gravatar Why would you remember what Tara's favorite book was at age ten?

Gravatar It would either have been a Pippi Longstockings book or a Nancy Drew mystery. No specific titles come to mind.

At that age I had my nose buried in a book just about all the time.

Gravatar I remember reading and re-reading, Harriette the Spy; the Little House on the Praire series; Charlottes Web; anything by Beverly Clearly.
I can't pick a favorite though.
I just know I loved going to the library!

Gravatar It's probably a toss-up between Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry or Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy books. For some reason Island of the Blue Dolphins comes to mind, too.

Gravatar Very funny comments!
I remember what book it was now!
CHERRY AMES! Student nurse!
They were your books Colleen. I loved Cherry Ames. You know, she reminded me of you, actually.

Please put her cover up on the site!
tara

Gravatar way cool!! how'd you do that with the book covers??

this is a great question, btw.

Gravatar tara- there you go.

ally- did the book cover by using some of blue witch's magic. Since I am not as good at it as she is it took a lot longer than I thought it would to figure how the spell works.

Gravatar well, you did a very nice job with the spell. it all looks so nice.

Gravatar Mine was "The Count of Monte Cristo"...

Gravatar I remember loving Harriet the Spy (for obvious reasons - my namesake and all), also read a lot of those Nancy Drew stories mentioned above. My dad was also reading me Josephine Tay murder mysteries which I enjoyed immensly.

Gravatar Donna- I have never read "The Count of Monte Cristo"- I think I will try and get it from the library.
(I have read the Classics Illustrated Comics version but I don't think that counts.)

Harriet- I liked "Harriet," too- she ate tomato sandwiches just like I did.

Gravatar My copy of harriet the spy has an orange cover. I might try to dig it out and re-read it.

Gravatar You really should do that. I know whenever I re-read a childhood book I get a warm cosy feeling as I remember how much I enjoyed the book the first time I read it.
