Me too!! I still sweat when I even have to call and make an appointment. And, my mother was also very fearful of dentists.

He is and I'm lucky I have him.

Not that brave. Dentist do not have clocks in their treatment rooms for the same reason that gambling casinos don't. So you can't tell how much time has passed while you are in there. 
Glad I am on the mend too. I feel amazingly well. I attribute this to the fact that my body is getting rid of the infection now and not just keeping it at bay.
My heart goes to you. I had some long surgeries to remove impacted wisdom teeth, but no associated emotional history. It's rough. I was a dental assistant once, I remember how hard it was for some folks. Hugs.
