It was one of my biggest lessons learned there I think -- that there aren't rules or shoulds on the Camino (i.e. in life) other than those we tend to take upon ourselves. I learned it from an Australian girl I walked with named Cherie. It's a choice to make something hard, she taught me. Since the walk, whenever I start to make myself crazy, I hear Cherie's voice in my head reminding me to "walk easy."
