"Regardless what you think Mark"
I respect your view, but was coming from the same side as Jake.
Unfortunately, sometimes the ACLU is a necessary adjunct in our system of checks and balances. Our government is not perfect, in this case, it seems pretty clear the police have overstepped their bounds.
I certainly would not expect to be arrested for inviting a female undercover cop back to my hotel for a quickie that did not involve a cash payment. Such an invitation is not against the law. Same goes for a homosexual proposing such a tryst.
I would expect, however, to get slapped. But then I'd press assault charges.
LOL

Fact is, terrorists like Jose Padilla have no civil rights. According to the Patriot Act (see your congressman if you don't like it -- they passed it), Section 501, automatically removes citizenship from anyone belonging to, supporting, aiding, abetting, taking up arms against the US, of any organization deemed to be a terrorist organization.
Those fine folks (sic) are not provided
any of the civil rights of citizens, and are not protected under the Constitution, and furthermore, being not in uniform, and not a signatory,
are not protected under the Geneva Convention.
And that's as it should be.
However, the ACL-Useless will lie about it to you all day long.
Oh, that dratted Patriot Act! It's all Bush's fault, you know.
ACLU-outta here NOW!

For me, anyway, the 'Read More' link is broken. Civil liberties ... who could be against that?

How about we leave this to the jury and the lawyers -- which is what the ACLU is comprised of.

I think the ACLU does some whacked things, but this one I have to disagree with. It seems clear to me the cop has a hard-on for the minister.
Ba-dum!
Sorry,, couldn't resist the pun, but I don't see that a crime was committed here.
