As you said, this is an imaginary film. No one can fight nature. If you do so, you fall into the trap of extremism. The two sexes are needed for balance even if two persons of the same sex decided to be together.
What you are talking about is a male genocide which is unacceptable at all levels. It is like deciding to get rid of all...let's see...whales for example? Or any species... you name it!
The program would run into the law of unintended consequences. Cloning only introduces the genetic construct of one person. Part of the viability of the human species is the mixing of genetic material that occurs with a male and female.
The Y chromosome is responsible for all the violence in the world. I've got a deal for you, guys. To save the world, stay away from explosives and simply give up politics! Elect women into power, sit back and enjoy the peace.

Mike, we run households. What is a country but a large household? Keep it clean and the people well fed, that's the principle. All we ask you is to bring money and put the toilet lid down. Wonderfully simple.
If you removed all the men, there would soon be armies of women, and the wars would be worse.
Consider Mrs Thatcher, Mrs Meir, Catherine the Great, etc etc. Women use men to fight their wars for them.
Maybe the problem isn't so much of men screwing up the world, but one of fear?
