YOUR FLY IS OPEN!

Gravatar So I have to subscribe to My Space to read what happened to him? Please don't make me!

Gravatar You shouldn't have to subscribe. Don't click the first link. Start with the link titled "Thanks."

He's got LOTS of replicated documents (and the Bible verses connected to the rules) and it's just too much stuff to cut and paste.

I didn't have to subscribe.

And for the grammer nuts the apostrophe has been removed. That's what happens when you post before the morning coffee.

Gravatar Dear child, you are a good and honest person who has stated who and what you are. Your mother is a derelict human being and an unfit mother. Your impulse to kill her is very understandable, but I know you won't. There are worse punishments you can inflict upon her. She will lose you. You will be well, but she will not.

Gravatar Oh jeebus. It's total torture. I'm so posting this link on Tribe. It's based in San Francisco. I have lots of loud, gay friends there who I'm sure will send support.

Gravatar Try this link if the other one makes you subscribe. This is so fucked up.

Gravatar dangit fuck hell shit.

i'm organizing a sort of band of outsiders to attend the open meeting held at this place on tuesday night at 7:30...camera crew intact, also having sneak in to intervie head of place before hand disguised as documentary crew supporting them....

fuckingshithell....

thanks for helping spread the word about this bullhonkey.

Gravatar Do we live in the 21st century, or is the dawn of the 11th? Poor kid...hard enough to face discrimination & ingnorance from strangers, but to face fear, anger & indoctrination into a dogmatic program of brain washing by one's own parents...ugh...

Gravatar PROTEST DAY ONE WENT REALLY WELL

for full story, with photos:
http://www.livejournal.com/ users...590.html#cutid1

Three news outlets showed up, look for stories tonight, especially the feature on channel thirteen.

Around 30 folks remained at the entrance to "Love In Action" for about 2 and a half hours...many staff members came out, we dabated with them, and chanted things like "It's ok to be Gay" and "This Is What Love In Action Looks Like"...also..."If you're out and you're happy clap your hands".....We also read facts about the whole history and facts about these sort of organizations through a bullhorn...

When we first arrived Zach was being brought in by his father, and he appeared very submissive and silent, only a few people saw him while the others were walking around the corner to the back entrance...Brett confrronted his father telling him that "he was wasting his money"...HIs father replied "THat's for me to decide", Brett replied "it should be for your son to decide" his father replied "Well, it's my money"....

wow.

WE WILL BE RETURNING TO PROTEST EVERY MORNING FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS-MONDAY-FRIDAY...8:30 SHARP....

the organization is very friendly and there's no worries of being arrested or otherwise getting in trouble...organizations like this usually appreciate the press...but as long as we're there to expose the bad side, then we're doing our job.....

Thanks to everyone who came, and please spread the word.....

Gravatar I put my daughter (Lauren - she's 15-16 yr old) on to his webpage and she has her own "My Space" page already. She sent the little "will you be my friend" query and if Zach responds then she'll be a supportive voice. And she's very well grounded and mature for her age...so Let's hope all these voices of reason provide some comfort and solace until he's "Free" of this coercive place.

Sheesh -- what a way to impose those "Christian Values" on a person's psyche. Bleh!!!

Gravatar Dad must be busted up with guilt, probably thinking that the reason his son is gay is that he was too distant and pushed him too close to his mother (blah-blah-blah-blah). so he's trying to make it right.

I debated some evangelical types about this in college, including a couple of guys whom no one in their right mind would believe were straight. They insisted that it's family issues that makes one have homosexual tendencies.

I was like, "what about when it's just one out of five kids (my sister) and your parents are pretty cool?"

Gravatar Also, tho, be careful on the PR angle. Depending on where public opinion is, the anti-"homosexual agenda" crowd could spin it that its' a bunch of 30-something gay guys from Midtown trying to corrupt this poor Christian kid. I'm just sayin ...

Gravatar The idealogues can bandy about clever phrases all they want. It's what drives them to pursue fruitless ends like objectifying individuals based on something which the best scientific evidence indicates is subjective -- human sexuality. You can't parent the gay out of a child any more than you can self-help it out of an adult.

In religions world wide, homosexuality is treated as a feeling and one which falls within human reason to control. Science, which is constantly at odds with religion, views homosexuality as an inherent trait with genetic markers to distinguish it. There are arguments for and against this.

Besides Zach and his family, there are untold numbers of other church-going, God-fearing families with deep pockets who can have their money wrestled from them in search of a "magic bullet" to rescue their child. Organizations like Love In Action believe that what they are doing is the right thing. Evidence exists that in the same way they accuse homosexuals of preying on their clients, they themselves prey upon their clients fears and capitalize on them. This must all cease.

Gravatar FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF LOVE IN ACTION:

"I would rather you commit suicide than have you leave Love In Action wanting to return to the gay lifestyle. In a physical death you could still have a spiritual resurrection; whereas, returning to homosexuality you are yielding yourself to a spiritual death from which there is no recovery." --The Final Indoctrination from John Smid, Director, Love In Action (LIA)

this, my friends, is why we absolutely must continue on and build this protest and make it huge....it's simply dehumanizing!

Gravatar morgan -- how did it go?

Gravatar Good lord, this is awful. Truly, utterly awful. We have become a fundamentalist police state, where folks are willing and able to torment one another over feelings and belief systems while utterly rejecting of simple, rational facts. My heart goes out to that poor boy. I will most certainly be sending him all the emotional support I can.

Gravatar If I had the money and time off work, I'd join in on the protesting. Alas, Memphis is quite a drive from Atlanta.

I guess this is just a message to say that I support the protests 100%, and I hope programs like this don't pop up in my neighborhood, or anywhere else for that matter. This sort of thing is dehumanising, and his father ought to be ashamed of what he's doing to another human life.

Gravatar It's for your own good you gay peice of crap. I hate you fucking faggots, I hate fags. I want a world where there are no gays, and no lesbians. I support this program. Let's convert all gays and lesbians to normal people.

Gays & lesbians are worse than niggers

Gravatar Gays & lesbians are worse than niggers
...Hahaha...people nowadays... spewing slurs and insults everywhere over the internet. Cowardly, I tell you. If a gay or lesbian person were next to you right now, would you be yelling this to them? No, you would just walk on by forever scared of them because they are different. The internet provides a form of safety for those who spew hate everywhere they go. I have no more to say...

Gravatar That in italics at the top was a quote by the way. That is not my opinion.

Gravatar Ah Michael, alas--- I'm not gay. Perhaps you've noticed the frequent mention of my children.

The thing is buddy... "Normal people" aren't consumed by hate.

Those are the people who need conversion therapy.

Gravatar I suppose that should read "wife & children" as many gay people are parents--proud, happy parents!

Detour Memphis Looks at Love In Action International

Memphis – June 13, 2005 – A city of scandals, poor people, homeless veterans, and politicians who steal money and buy big houses – Memphis is a boiling pot of issues and the latest is a group of people who believe they can change a person’s sexual orientation.

The group at the head of “changing people’s orientation” is Love In Action International - founded in 1973 by John Evans. Evans, a former homosexual himself, and Rev. Kent Philpott, a heterosexual, created the first group to publicize cases of homosexuals who had allegedly been converted or learned to abstain from homosexuality or homosexual feelings. The two men deemed homosexual behavior as sinful and in violation of biblical moral code. After Evans' friend Jack McIntyre committed suicide out of despair concerning his inability to change, Evans left the project and denounced it as dangerous. The story unfolds as a sick gay/straight battle between forces with no true winner.

Another ministry that follows some of the same doctrines as Love In Action is Exodus International. Founded in 1976, Exodus International is an inter-denominational organization which, according to its own description, "has grown to include over 100 local ministries in the USA and Canada" and is "linked with other Exodus world regions outside of North America, totaling over 135 ministries in 17 countries."

Exodus promotes a "system of support" comprising a church, a therapist and a support group.

Exodus International had its biggest scandal in 1979 when Michael Bussee (one of the co-founding members who had helped organize the 1976 conference that led to Exodus' inception) left the group to be with Gary Cooper, also a co-organizer of that conference and a staff member at the local Exodus ministry where they both worked. Later they held a life commitment ceremony. Their story is one of the focuses of the documentary One Nation Under God (1993), directed by Teodoro Maniaci and Francine Rzeznik.

Now let’s fast forward 26 years to 2005 in Memphis. A local group of protesters are outside of Love In Action’s new ministry located on Yale Road in North Memphis - an area that has seen better days. The protesters are fighting several causes:

1. The center is home to gay youth who were placed in this ministry by their parents in hopes of “converting” and “saving” their young souls from a life of living in sin and then a death of burning in Hell.

2. The methods used by Love In Action to carry out this process: brainwashing, Bible-intervention, and overall mind control/torture.

3. The protesters are standing together to show love and compassion for these young souls who at this point have no one to turn to.

Gravatar For all of you that don't know, that excerpt was from Zach, a teen who is being forced to attend the "A Safe Place" torture camp. A group on MySpace started less than 48 hours ago and already has nearly 500 people writing letters to influential people and media all around the nation. The group's site, http://groups.myspace.com/freezach, has the emails of these influential entities.

Gravatar You people are so open-minded that your brains have fallen out! It isn't natural to be gay. We are men and women and are made to procreate. Nine out of ten of these gays are just probably bitter about their parents not being proud of them or something, that or their parents are queer too. Get over yourself! The world isn't about you or your "rights". Yes, you have the "right" to be gay, but that doesn't mean right as opposed to wrong. It just means the liberty to do so. I have the "right" to curse at everyone I see on the street, but it isn't the right thing to do. It's like you are saying, "2 + 2 = 5 because I have the right to say so...wanna argue about it huh? I'm gonna protest and soon they'll have to make an amendment saying it's 4 but it's 5 if you want it to be."

Just quit whining. And quit trying to impose your mental problems and complete lack of self-control on everyone. Go to church and hear something about absolute truth, please. Don't read this in an angry way. I'm not mad at anyone. I'm praying you will make the right decisions.

Gravatar I can think of a lot of other things that aren't natural... like aspirin, open-heart surgery, in-vitro fertilization, cars, and the internet.

oh, and can you think of a better word than "whining" ... that one was played out by conservatives around the time of the election.

At least if our brains fall out we can put them back in... ours were not eaten by our politically-driven religious leaders because we handed them up voluntarily.

Gravatar Improvements in medicine, transportation, and communications are in a way natural. We are making progress with the things you mention. Progress is natural, else we would be drawing on cave walls still. Homosexuality is not natural. If it was natural 99.9% of people who have ever lived on this planet would be gay. So quit whining. You are just wrong and want everyone else to see things your way. Oh, wait, you wanted a better word...let's see...how about bitching, moaning, pissing, or maybe mongering. Fact is, the whole "right for you may not be right for me" argument is faulty. Two directly opposing statements can't both be true. And I'd like to dare you to say there is no absolute truth. Go on, it will sound funny when you say it and realize you've just proven yourself wrong. And I didn't give my brain over to anyone. If Bush were to say homosexuality, abortion, or any other of the things you probably stand for were "OK", I wouldn't agree. I happen to have a basis for truth. I base my views of right and wrong on the Bible no matter who is in power, no matter what the media spews out, and no matter what the crowd does. If it's right it's right, if not it is wrong. If I wasn't bored right now I never would've started this, but now I'm more bored. I'll be praying for you. *sigh*

Gravatar oh, i meant to say you're just mad at your dad
