Personal Economic freedom (capitalism) constrains the ability of the governing classes to order every aspect of other peoples lives.
They consider their governance indispensable and call their "natural right" to rule democracy.
The real threat to democracy is off course the EU.
There is no europe wide demos, and so there can be no Europe wide democracy.
