Gravatar It's definitely not competitive with comcast, which has 6Mbit / 768k constant with the speed boost to 12Mbit / 3Mbit for the first few minutes. I've regularly gotten 12Mbit off of fast download sites as well (sourceforge, umn).

It also doesn't work as well as it should in some places. I'm in a moderate size apartment building (4 floors) and situated about as close to an access point as I can be, and the other networks in the apartment cause the signal/noise ratio to go super high and completely drop internet for a minute or so every once in a while. I couldn't really keep USI around in order to trouble shoot completely, but removing my own personal wireless network, switching the channel of it, and using something other than the ruckus router didn't work at all for me, so the "too many networks" is just my best guess at the moment. I'll probably give them another try in 2-3 months for a month or two. If the reliability is still where it was when I left, the prices are really not competitive.

This also explains the 1Mbit limit I was getting on the 2nd/3rd month I was on the service when before it was symmetrical (6Mbit both ways) - that was nice.

Gravatar Higher upload speeds would have been nice...

Gravatar It doesn't seem competitive with currently available connections to me, but I'm a bit of a power user. Perhaps it's competitive vs. dial-up, but you have to assume an additional $5/mo for the booster, so is it really competitive?
