But is it really closed? I was there a couple of days after it opened, at a little after sunset, and yeah, there were tons of folks there so I'm sure any bikers would have had to walk rather than bike through, but there were definitely people doing just that.
I guess I can see how, if that were my commute I might be pissed... but I'm finding it hard to imagine that it would be that crowded or difficult to commute during "peak" to and from work times.
It also strikes me that the bridge is definitely not just for bicycles. It's a pedestrian bridge, and I think it made for an interesting stroll for us pedestrians. I guess I'm just "all for" public art in most contexts, and that includes corporate sponsored art.
If this adds five minutes to some bicyclists commutes because they have to walk rather than ride over the bridge, I think I'm ok with that. (On the other hand, I might sing a different tune after a few weeks if it were my commute, but I don't know...)
