So early in September I went to:

http://www.usiwireless.com/servi...is/ schedule.htm

and for my area (#3) it said September. I was excited to get the 6Mbps service and the dates for areas #1 and #2 said they were already done. So I waited and hoped. Then I checked a few days later and it had changed to October for area #3. Well now it's October and I find this info (finally some details) about 6Mbps not being available? Well damn.

Maybe I should just get cable, but if this wireless works well it would be so much more affordable ;(

Well I guess I just wanted to rant. I hope it works out, I just wish there were more accessible details and info than what they have on the USI page.

So thanks for helping me at least get some info, I hope I can find more ;p

Gravatar Bjorn, if you haven't seen my earlier posts on USIW and marketing, you might enjoy them.

Gravatar There is a lot they could be doing marketing-wise which they haven't done. Neighborhood meetings, and a website are great, but I think they need people on the street. It would be smart to open up the whole network for free for anyone to use. If you wanted to have home service, buy a ruckus modem. If you want better mobile service, buy a ruckus modem. If you want to see if it would provide value to you on an iPhone, or similar wifi gadget, try it out for a few months, on the real system. It could be a great way to find dead spots in neighborhoods, to have so many testers out there on your network.

Gravatar Thanks, Bjorn. That is what I also found out when I talked to the USIW rep at King's Fair in Seward Neighborhood last weekend.

Wouldn't it be nice (and a smart marketing move) if USIW just opened up the network to 6Mbps (if you can get it) without any extra charges until the network is officially in place and tuned.

Gravatar Joe Caldwell made a post on my blog about the 6mpbs issue, and said it's not off the table, you just have to be sitting on a pole with the node under you to get 6mbps, and you need to be using the Ruckus modem.
