I'm no economist, but even I can see why privatisation of energy supply was essentially a multi-billion pound gift.
For instance, I'm a bit skint this month, so I'll probably cut down on the cigs, forego my morning bacon roll and coffee and stay in next weekend.
What I can't do is say, fuck it, I'll just go without electricity this week, and sit in the dark wrapped in a duvet.
*Sadly, I'm skint because I just got ridden up the backside by Scottish Power to the tune of three hundred and seventy quid. Which might explain why I'm a little bitter..

One consumer group, Energywatch, has suggested that the state should force energy suppliers to offer subsidised "social tariffs" for less efficient consumers.
And who said the fight against Climate Change was a hopeless cause, eh? Paying subsidies for the inefficient use of fossil fuels is clearly the way to go.

There is no such thing as "the fight against climate change", it being politically inexpedient and economically imprudent to take on a powerful enemy which may, in fact, actually exist.
