Even in the US, where health care is a luxury few can afford, the press for putting the most private of records online is more vigorous and urgent than coverage. This makes the more cynical among us wonder exactly what is actually going on, though it imperils us to a diagnosis of paranoia.

But in the case of amputees with complications, surely some data storage problems might become evident?

They could always carry the amputated limb around with them afterward.
It doesn't sound like you've got much familiarity with IT solutions.
