Apparently given the chance, people won't read the Bible for themselves.

I never did think much of the hsitorical contributions of Luther or Gutenberg...apparently as things were so much better before them, few others do either.

Gravatar I once tried to read the King James version from cover to cover, but bogged down in boredom and disgust somewhere in Leviticus or Numbers. On the other hand, many of the stories are rather good, although the most salutory - Joshua, for instance - are not necessarily the best known.

Gravatar The King James version was a bit of a let down I think - hundreds of pages but no King James.

Gravatar On this side of the Pond, biblical familiarity extends to a few psalms, a Charlie Brown Christmas and a heavy dose of Revelation. And among the Christian Identity movement, Jesus is getting a facelift as a guntoting he-man. Nothing offends so much as quoting unfamiliar scripture at fundies.

Gravatar Is the Gibsonite Passion forgotten so soon, then? Verily, the End Times are upon us.
