I know it's pointless being reasonable or rational about this sort of thing, but:
1. Is it possible that the low proportion of council tenants working is related to the fact that it's really hard to get a council tenancy if you're a healthy individual of working age?
2. What in God's name does seeking work have to do with one's tenancy anyway? It has to do with receipt of the related benefits, nothing else. Retention of council tenancies has to do with paying your rent and not being antisocial to the neighbours.

This seems strictly for the Daily Mail vote. But the fact that it is uttered by a 'labour' minister is sickening.
