Gravatar AMEN, AMEN, AMEN !!!!The most dignified blog I have read so far about the most maligned finalists. They are both very talented indeed! And I'll not be any prouder as a Filipino if either of them ultimately triumphs and represents the country in international competitions (and it does not matter whether they win or not). Inspite of the humiliation they have experienced from so many people and even from the uncalled for insolent remarks from a very specific judge, they have maintained their dignity. Like Ken Dingle, they have acted like real gentlemen inspite of their trials and tribulations. A very welcomed trait of a true idol!

Gravatar Do you already know about the Wikipedia entry on Philippine Idol?
It states that the finals, which was going to take place in The Big Dome, would involve the final three contestants. Is this true?

Gravatar Well said. The bottom line is - talent. For the first IdolSource, I like you.

Enough with the bashing, for whatever reason, these people presented themselves to the public, and most of the public don't measure up to what they have and do.

To Gian, Mau, Jan and Miguel, all the best.

Gravatar As a casual observer, you are right in imploring fans not to make personal attacks on some of the remaining PI finalists. I think it's the system that sucks, not the contestants who just happen to be there whether by pure luck, by sheer talent, or by their well-oiled voting machinery. I just thought that PI would be different from other Philippine singing/talent contests, wherein the one who could muster the most number of votes (not necessarily the most popular and talented) wins. PI is no different in any way. Unless the judges have the last say, it's not an assurance that the first Philippine Idol winner will be the most talented.

Gravatar Welcome to showbiz guys!!!

Gravatar kagagawan lahat yan ng secret society ni mau/gian to destroy the other competitors image para they would get the vote....

Gravatar shy, haha i really like your comment. yeah, welcome to the world of "intriga" and news.

well, in all fairness to them, they're good singers in their own ways.however, the key to this competition is consistency and improvement. i have seen the great improvement in jan (as i have heard that he takes voice lessons) especially in his vibratos. at first i was bothered by jan's vibratos but for the past sundays, i've seen him improve a lot.

for miguel, i think nervousness and stress is what gets in the way of his singing. he's young, and maybe not yet prepared to face the bashing and the criticisms. but i'm sure, somewhere behind that tall figure, is a great singer. remember the night where he played the piano, i really liked that performance and i wished that he wouldn't get eliminated that night (and he wasn't).

anyway, things are going to be tough these days. especially that 4 of the best singers are competing against each other. the choice is up to us now, we have to vote for the singer whom we thing has the best over-all quality to becoming the first philippine idol.

Gravatar it's true, the bottom line is talent but PI is suppose to be the THE Singing Competiton that will discover huge talents to represent RP in the world stage of pop idol stardom. The four remaining contenders are indeed talented but at this level, simply being talented is not just an asset but a requirement. We need VERY talented singers not just talented singers. I don't think anyone with a fair mind will ever put Miguel above Pow who was ousted recently. Jan Nieto's performances are still so-so and he's still not comfortable on the show.

Pilita's gut-wrenching flirtations just add fuel to the flame of the conspiracy theory.

If people think that the two 'controversial' candidates deserve to win because of their gentlemanly attitudes in taking criticisms then that just defeated the purpose of the talent search. It just shows the typical sentimentality of us pinoys when it comes to handing out our precious votes. Besides, when they decided to enter the 'world of showbiz', intrigues, slander etc are part of the lot.

They joined a 'televised' competiton to be judged by the public whether they're good or bad so that's part of the bargain. That's why I find it amusing for someone to say that their gentlemanly attributes are enough to be considered an idol.

Somebody said that it's not the contestants that suck but the system. I totally disagree with that. This 'IDOL' system has worked well in so many countries so much so they're franchising it all over the world. It's similar to a form of government that has been deemed acceptable by the majority. It's not the system that sucks... instead it's the voters. A country deserves the leader they elect, so if Miguel or Jan wins the PI then they are the Filipino Singers we deserve to represent us. (God forbid)

Well, PI is still in it's infancy. Hopefully, if there's a next one, we would all be wiser.

Gravatar I beg to disagree, heres what i think, I think that the judges let them in thinking that they will improve their talents. But sad to say, some of them did not do so. If you hear the words of Ryan, he is showing his disappointment all throughout despite the sugarcoated comments that he gave.

I don't think so...

Gravatar Hi TommyHill. You started your blog with 'I beg to disagree'. Kanino? and at which of the many points raised in this interesting blog inititated by IdolSource?

You actually raised a totally new point.

I am also with you when you said that kahit di si Mau ang gusto mo, siya na lang ang pinaka-karapat-dapat na manalo.

I hope they'll keep Lea Salonga sa panel ng judges. Maybe with her insights people will learn how to vote wiser.

Gravatar Well said,im Mau Marcelo fan, pero everytime na makakabasa o makakarinig ako ng bashing kay miguel or Jan nakakapikon rin.Let`s be civilized walang puwang eto sa community.Peace!

Gravatar You know what guys, when you enter showbiz, you have to be prepared for anything, so if you cant handle the pressure then you should leave the business. So with regards to bashing idol talents, its part of showbiz and you cant tell people to stop the negative comments, ganun talaga eh.

Gravatar There are what you call constructive criticisms, kind sir.... those are acceptaqble and needed...but comments from nincompoops like you are destructive, meaningless, and considered worthless, good for nothing, except by uneducated or pseudoeducated people like you...

Gravatar Philippine Idol is a freaking franchise. If it's a system that sucks, then it's a system that sucks all over the world in all the countries that have chosen to franchise it. But those are the rules of the game, and people who join the game or choose to be spectators should respect the rules.

What if a contest winner is selected only by a panel of judges -- "Luto! May favoritism!"

What if a contest relies on text + judges -- "Pagkakakitaan lang nila tayong voters pero ipapanalo pa rin nila yung bata nila!"

What if a contest relied only on vocal talent -- "Bakit pa nilagay sa TV to kung bale wala rin pala ang performance at audience appeal?"

We chose to participate as audience members here. We should respect the rules. If you don't like it, walk away -- if enough people walk away, the faulty format will die a natural death.

Gravatar I feel that I need to make myself clear , the last comment I entered was directed to the entry before me (Tommy Hill) and to nobody else.

Gravatar August man you are such a dumbass to think that there is such a thing as constructive criticism in showbusiness. From your blog it seems that you are supporting Idols who lack proper talent and you attack the decision of a judge who obviously knows more than you. You call me uneducated, i call you stupid for having a bad taste in picking your choice of Idol. If you want to continue this ill wait for you at the chatterbox, believe me ive done this before and im always game. see you at the chatterbox dumbass.

Gravatar For Cielo, TommyHill and Augustman.

Cielo - U said that 'Kasalanan ng mga supporters ng mga natanggal kundi nila vinote ang idol nila' I think it's too naive too assume that kumo natanggal sila ay dahil di na sila vinote ng fans nila. It does matter if your core supporters can afford to vote several times too. So i think it's more accurate to say na kulang ang boto nila kesa naman to assume na kulang ang bumoto sa kanila, Ang binibilang kasi ay yung boto at hindi yung mga bumoto.

Marami rin naman kasing mga willing to support their idols but just couldn't afford to do multiple voting.

However, I still stand on my point that we Pinoys are still very sentimental in voting and just shows why movie personalities have more chances in winning government elections than more deserving candidates

Augustman - Are u saying that Philippine Idol should be based on how resilient the idol candidates are in handling criticisms on national tv and not on how talented they are in singing? In fairness to your so called 'most maligned finalists' Jan Nieto can be a good actor (he acted better than he sang during the movie theme night), Miguel can be a serious singer songwriter but not yet. He still lacked life experience to draw from to give a more nuanced performance and song interpretations. i don't know kung fan ka rin ni Ken pero di ko nakita talent ni Ken sa show. So wait and see na lang. Well, I won't wait and definitely don't want to see it.

TommyHill - what is a chatterbox?

Gravatar River - chatterbox is where people chat here on this site.

Gravatar Hahaha...I am not here to fight with anybody, especially with Tommy "Hilfiger"... I just want to chat with fellow Pinoys as I have not been back to the Philippines for more than 37 years. And believe it or not, I have not seen a single Filipino soul where I reside, although I know they are all around the country where I am. I really miss everything Filipino, most especially using such lovely words like, "putang ina mo and lintik ka" , just kidding... I hope you can really take a joke and my sense of humor is not that gross...and this is to everyone reading this. Thanks guys, you made my day . But honestly, I really don't care much whoever wins, I just want to stir up some emotions. hehehe. So there you are Tommy Hill, I have no way of voting for whoever you mentioned.Hehehe....And my sabbatical will end soon, so I'll be pretty occupied again... now I can still say, " What's better than to do nothing then rest afterwards". Smile, my friends...BYE!
