Gravatar There are a number of splinter groups from the Mormon Church who have been excommunicated for practicing polygamy. Some of these apostates, like Tom Green, have their wives commit welfare fraud to support them.

What always surprises me is how these guys are able to get women to marry them under those circumstances.

It sounds to me as though it's not polygamy they resent so much as large families. I doubt that the marital arrangements of one's parents has much bearing on whether one is entitled to state support. It seems to me that the French should have thought of this when they offered French citizenship to Algerians. Didn't they know that Muslims sometimes practice polygamy, have larger families than most Europeans, and abhor abortion?

Entitlement programs always run this risk, because they're essentially pyramid schemes where current payments come out of payroll taxes on workers.
America's population is growing, but France's would be shrinking were it not for the Muslims living there.

Gravatar The polygamy charge by the Minister was laughable. It can't be that so many Muslims in France are polygamists. That was just a bit of poorly presented political posturing.

Regarding France's birth rate: I think you're right. Were it not for the Muslims, France would be at a below replacement rate.
