I don't know who you are ... and I don't know if this will work. But I am going to try it as soon as I finish this note. My husband and I each have a torn fingernail and have tried 'umpteen' different ideas to get the nail to grown out beyond the tear.

This site is awesome. I just hit my nail on the door and broke it half-way through the bed. It hurt like hell!!! I trimmed my nail, but the cracked area was still bleeding. I absent mindedly buffed my already thin nails way too much (while watching some absent minded tv show I'm sure) and not only do they burn, but worse they are tearing way down past the quick. I've tried using a coat of nail glue, and I tried those Nail Bandages. They helped a little, and only for a few days. I'm excited about the tea bags and I can't wait to do this. Last week I busted a big toenail -- halfway down (ouch) -- as I tripped into a heavy item of luggage at the airport. And this happened right before sandal season, too, dammit! It's going to take months to grow out, so you have just saved me a LOT of grief... not to mention preserving my vanity. :-) Thanks!

Hey there, Your information that I recieved on broken nails and how to repair them! I am going to try it yet today once I get the damn superglue that is allready on two of my nails off. Do you have any suggestions for getting the super glue off of your nails??? Believe me I have tried polish remover, letting it soak it seemed like forever, but it did not really work. I broke mine not too long ago, went to the store (in france where nails are not as important as in the US unfortunately for me) the woman "explained" very roughly how i was supposed to do it, i tried 3 times and it kept coming off, why? cause i used too big a strip of tissue, then would cut around it and it's no good. now i know, thank u very much !!

Fantastic fix. I split my right ring finger nail after snagging it with a piece of hooked wire. It tore and lifted from the nail bed from just off center of the tip to about 3/16 in and then 1/8 inch to the inside. I wore a bandaid with antibiotic ointment for several days first to ensure there was no infection. I applied your patch and it's perfect!

About finger-nail repair? werer you referring to the tea bag TAG or a piece of the tea bag its-self? Not quite clear on this angle. Maybe I'll try both. Please advise. I too am trying to improve my poor ,old beat up jewelry hands. thanks kk

A few weeks ago i chiped my nail right down the middle i didn't take much notice of it but then i showed my mam just to make sure it was alright so i showed her and she noticed that it could bend all the way back to my skin so she covered it up with a plaster but it still keeps catching in it and it REALLY hurts should i go to the doctor?
I have a tear on my fingernail right at the quick and I used the teabag/superglue method. It stays for a few days then the whole repair piece comes off.
No super glue..but double layer of clear nail polish & so far, so good! Thanks for the tip & saving my nail (and sanity - I was about to lose it if the nail got caught on one more thing!) :)
I came across this while looking how to make the 'Perfect Omelette'. This happens to me all the time and I just absolutely hate it. It is so hard trying to type and text with a tear like these, and the most annoying part is snagging it on my hair, clothes, and basically anything else fibrous. hi this was really brilliant way to fix a borke nail. but i accidently cut off the broken nail part before i thought to search for a cure. do you think there's still hope for me? is there a way to fix that?
thanks for this I caught my finger in a door a couple of months ago and now it is growing out and it cracked right near the bottom I was going to use just crazy glue but was nervous so the tea bag worked perfect.
This was FANTASTIC! I had sliced my fingernail with a super sharp chef's knife, from the cuticle to 1/8" from the tip. This left me with a large "V" shaped cut that had lifted from the quick, and hurt like h*ll. I tried various bandaids and tapes, but any pressure I put on it would cause it to lift and separate. I made the superglue repair yesterday by following your instructions, and added 3 coats of "Hard as Nails" after the glue had dried. So far, it is holding up perfectly, even after my constant hand washing. The real test comes tomorrow when I go to play volleyball, and put some jarring pressure on my fingertips. If it can survive that, I will be very impressed. Thanks for providing such a great tip (no pun intended).

They use to sell a kit that did the same thing but I haven't seen them in years. I have used this idea before. It works for a little while and then the whole repair piece falls off so I had to keep doing it over and over and then I finally gave up on it. It is a good quick fix but I don't think it will last until the nail grows out. Maybe the tea bag fabric will work better. I will certainly try it. My nails are always breaking off.

my cuz accidentally hit my finger on the door 2 to 3 years ago and the sad thing is it cant grow back cos the whole quarter came off. im rly sad. is it possible to take cells from other nail and inject so it can grow back?
I remembered reading this a long time ago and have used it. I was recently on vacation and my thumbnail tore much like in the tutorial. I did exactly as stated and here it is 10 days later...the repair has held and my nail is almost grown out. This is a great fix. Thanks.

I have tried everything over the years but my latest discovery seems to work pretty good. There is a product called Gorilla Glue and what I do is, if there is a crack or split, is to just goop the stuff over the cracked area. It is not fast drying and has the unusual property of foaming up. However once it dries it holds extremely well and you can file off the excess. Your nail will look ugly and you will probably have to redo every 3 or 4 days, but it should keep things together until the nail grows out past the break
It's worth a try and has been better than many of other methods that I have tried.

Wow your nails are super short! Lol. Either way, you're the second site I have found with the same info. so it must be safe. I opened a new gallon of milk and my thumb nail ripped a bit on the edge..ugh. I have been growing these for 3 months now so I don't want to cut them.

You are funny! I am going to try this right now. For some reason, my big toe always tears below the nail line and I have to clip it way down and it's all uneven. I am going to try the teabag and see how it goes.
