"It's okay--let it out!"

Gravatar The last year of the Baby Boom was 1964. So having been born in 1960, I guess that makes me a "late boomer". I always thought of GenXers as considerably more Conservative than me. I'm speaking in general terms which is always the problem with categorizations like this.

As for the "Millenials" , my two nephews are 25 and 30. The younger one is definitely the more Progressive of the two. SHRUG.

I think the part that fascinates me most about all this is the endless ways we human beings seem to invent to pit "us" against "them". I know its part of our nature, but we really seem to never tire of it! Ten again, I'm just a sould whose intentions are good! Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood!" OOoops! There I go quoting those "late boomer" song lyrics again!

Gravatar LOL! From what I read, the X'er's are from 1962 - 1981 and the Millennials are 1982-2001. I think it is funny how the perception of "generations" is more of a marketing idea or the invention of the media.

Gravatar According to the Novel that started all of this, "Generation X" I was part of that group... of course conventional wisdom puts me in the Baby Boomer category.

I prefer to think of my generation (too young to be hippies, too old to be punks, as a wise person once said) as Generation Lost.

Gravatar A couple of things here. Due to the nature of our struggles, I'm always shocked when someone my age (45) is a Republican. (Okay make that HORRIFIED.) Another thing about us is we were not made to think we were "special" like this current generation. Many of us know low self-esteem and addiction all too well. A few of us managed to over come those issues and escape the traps (life long bad marriages, disfunctional kids and addiction) our parents set up for us.

Gravatar Chzsteak- I love how you mention the whole "us against them" mentality. Whenever Jimmi starts with we were this way or that way, I stop him because I have no intention of becoming the old lady who thinks in those terms. We are all humans having a human experience and while there are differences there are more similarities. I adore the younger generations!

Gravatar Well, like I said, I always thought of these generational things as more marketing campaigns than anything. My hubby is a Boomer and I'm an X'er and my friends are all in the range.

Gravatar I think speaking in general terms there is something to generational discriptions beyond marketing. I've heard my nieces generation described and thought it was right on the money.
