I think in a cold sunny climate, a hat to cover such a bald dome is to be recommended. A black SWAT-looking hat with a gun company logo, of course; a hat that most normal 14-year-old boys would be proud to wear.

um, most of you people don't have your photos online, but with the Martin vs. Benjamin phototaking here, there is a pretty clear distinction. Which of these two looks normal, and resembles a camp counselor, who you would you feel comfortable dropping off your child with for daycamp? vs. which one would you not leave your child with, seems sort of creepy and is trying to take photos for his collection?

In those photos, jgm has a similar black hat, BW looks friendly, their chins are essentially the same, BW isn't bald in his hatless photo in the westword which you linked to somewhere.
It wouldn't be easy to be Ward's guard either. I was once with a group which invited Michael Moore to speak at their bathe-in demo at a department store which was opposing a hygiene center downtown where the homeless could wash their clothes and take showers, by saying that there were enough bathrooms at businesses. The real organizer turned to people with no tasks and said they were security, and should stop anyone trying to tackle Moore. That didn't seem too likely, but sure enough, an unbathed drunk guy started stumbling onto the concrete thing Moore was standing on, and at that point we realized we had no idea how to respond to him. Should we get pushy and take him by the arm and lead him away, or do we sort of wave a newspaper at him or let him do what he wants.
