Welcome Sens & Sabres fans to a neutral site to battle your sworn enemy fans. It's wit-to-wit (to wit!) here and until the end of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Be arrogant, be sharped tongued, be sarcastic, but be respectful - while a libertarian philosphy applies to the hands-off nature of comment management, inappropriate or wholly offensive statements will go missing (don't be a racist prick, got it?)
Have at 'er.

I was looking at some of the Sabre's youtube postings and it's hilarious: the fight clips are all their tough guys gooning the skill guys of other teams and all of their goals are shootout.
Message to Buffalo fans: there are NO shootouts in the playoffs!

Good call, AlfieForEver. Watching clips posted by fans is usually the best way to analyze a team. If Murray is half as sharp as you, the Sabres don't stand a chance.
And we're fully aware the shootout disappears in the playoffs. Same as Daniel Alfreddson.
THM, I like your style. By the way, who's Brian Murray? Any relation to your coach? I hear your goalie Roy Emery is quite, good too.
This is going to be fun.

Unbiased?!?!
No worries, I'm as big a homer as they come. This promises to be an epic series, and I'm picking the Sabres in 7 with no less than 2 games going into OT.
Yes the Sens have played great hockey of late, and it's true that the Sabres have coasted a bit, but the 'Slugs will play up to and beyond any team they face.
Besides, it's about time for the perennial Ottawa playoff meltdown.

Besides, it's about time for the perennial Ottawa playoff meltdown.
We've been hearing that for the last 4 weeks or so. The meltdown was supposed to come against the insurmountable Gary Roberts. It was said we couldn't beat him. Having Malkin and Crosby along for the ride, it was supposed to be worse. 4-1.
Then Brodeur and the trap were supposed to be what caused the annual demise. That wall came down.
Now we're the big underdog to the Sabres who have put us out time after time in disappointing runs (aside: how many Cups do you kids have?). Fine. We're "desined to choke" and the Sabres are the "scary good" team of destiny.
Scary like Scary Movie, I suppose.

Apparently there is some magical switch that the Sabres have not been able to find since January 1st that will be magically thrown come game 1. Meanwhile, the team that has stepped up its game will suddenly falter.
Doubt it, the Flying (through the air while diving) Slugs haven't shown it and won't be able to step it up enough to get past the sens
sens in 6 not that it matters because the Ducks will win it all.

The sound you just heard was the entire nation of Canada snapping their fingers at that devastating "Scary like Scary Movie" comment. AlfieforEver, you're as good at trash talking as your namesake is in the clutch.
Anyone who's watched the Sabres this year knows they can turn it on when they need to. Of course, it helps when they're playing a Maple Leafs team that thinks games are only 45 minutes long.

Which Alfie might you be referring to, Shony? Couldn't be the one who is ranked 5th in playoff scoring with one less game and 4 more goals than Briere? Or his 19 hits compared to Briere's 2?
I'm not saying Briere is bad, but if Briere decides he wants to play for a good team next year, the Sens might have room for him. Maybe on the 3rd line.

Shonny, LC or any other Buffalo fan,
can you post the websites for live video (Versus maybe?) or audio (uh, WKRP? no clue) streaming of the Buffalo game feeds? I'm going to put up a sidebar with each team's links so fans can see how bad the other team's fluffer's can get.
Post the URL here and I'll have it up soon.

Ok... Who won the president's trophy? was it Ottawa? If the Sabres are so terrible, why did we have the best regular season record? The Sens are terrible. All it took was a rookie (Pominville) to knock you out of the playoffs last year, and we were SHORT HANDED at the time. That cheapshot bullshit Ottawa was pulling in the regular season doesn't work in the playoffs, something all of the Sens fans will know by next Saturday (we're winnin' it in 5, by the way). I'm sick of people saying we think the cup is owed to us and that we're bandwagon fans. I've been a diehard Sabres fan for as long as I can remember. I was there when we didn't have an owner, and I'll be there when we win the cup because we are the best team in the league, NOT because it is owed to us.

Bah, I'll do it for you. Radio is WGR550 You're going to have to sign up for an account to listen to the dulcet tones of Rick Jeanneret, though, which I know is why you wanted that link in the first place. The rest of the games are being broadcast by Versus and NBC in the US so the Sabres broadcasters are only on the radio.
Sabresfan07 and Hoosh73, I think the entry might be biased seeing as how this is a blog started by a Sens fan. Just a hunch.

Thanks Shony,
I did actually do a search, but I figured I'd encourage participation - you know, along the lines of what this site is about. Sens fans can catch broadcasts on a few stations, but the Team is preferred. I figured your group would have a preference. That's all. Now, is it too much to ask if you are aware of any live video streaming? The site has had some hits from Europe and I'd like them to have options for watching live game feeds.

To answer why the main posting is so Ottawa "biassed", it's because I already have access to many Ottawa fans who are willing to take on Buffalo fans.
Would "Buffalo plays host to Ottawa in Round 3 of the series.... discuss amongst yourselves" have caught your attention so much?
At some point, once I've identified some intelligent commentary from the other teams, I'll be offering "authorship" rights to said individuals.
Like the header says, this is a place to hold intelligent discussion with 'enemy' fans about the series, including game-time heckling.
It's (fo' real) nice to have you here. Please spread the word and then get bitch-slapped online as well as on the ice.

Well played, DC. But like Ruff, what you perceive as complaining is, in fact, masterful gamesmanship.
I have no idea about live video feeds. I think there's something called sopcast or some such. Pretty sure bfloblog.com has some information on that. Not sure what feed that would be since I've never done it. Maybe Versus? But why anyone would choose Versus over TSN or CBC is beyond me.

The Sabres won the President's Trophy this year the same way that the sens won it last year. They had a great first half and almost muddled it away in the second half.
The Sabres have been far from their early form since January and would be well advised to stop sucking or the sens are going to wipe the floor with them and the thought of that makes me sick.
On the other hand, seeing Buffalo exposed as a good regular season team that has serious flaws would also be nice.
I guess, either way I win.

Rob Ray was just on the radio saying that you slug fans desperatetly need some kind of championship to make you temporarly forget about your pitiful lives.
He claims your average income in Buttafucco is around 28 K a year.So since spending money on playoff tickets is more important to you than fixing your kids teeth,he hopes you will have a better life if you could win a cup.
Perhaps you could ask management to keep the same logo for at least 2 years so you could afford some braces.

Duff, which fight are you talking about? The one from February that was a draw? Or the one from last year when Peters broke McGrattan’s orbital bone? I’ll even give that first one to McGrattan by a slim margin. Either way, who cares? Peters and McGrattan don’t have a chance in hell of seeing the ice this series. There’s a term for people who focus on the regular season once the playoffs start. That term is Leafs fan. And I’m simply amazed you were able to glean that much information about the dental health of the children of Buffalo from one interview with Rob Ray. You’re like some sort of Canadian Sherlock Holmes! Except instead of solving crimes, you listen to sports radio over the Internet.
AlfieForEver, I have no idea what this ‘world of others’ is. I’m ITCHING for you to start making sense.
DC, changing Lindy to Linda? You are a wordsmith unlike any man I have ever encountered. Except for maybe Duff, who managed to change Buffalo to Buttafuoco. Now there’s a topical reference! Keep up that hilariously inventive wordplay and I’ll be knocked into the world of others before I know it.

And WTF has Drury has ever done in the NHL?
The best I can figure is he,
a) gravy trained a Cup ring with the Avs courtesy of Sakic, Forsberg, Roy, Blake et al.
b) shit the bed in Calgary enough that the Flames had enough of his act after one season
c) has never scored more than 70 pts in a season
d) he has to share the "C" with someone named Danielle.
And the only ones who give a fuck about the Little League World Series and Junior B level NCAA hockey are the parents and a few scumbag agents.

It's amazing how the Slug fans can't get over the Hull goal.
I was sent this article by a SlugFan in what I can only describe as good effort.
The article was submitted in response to a request for examples of other "exact same situation" goals in the playoffs. Request unfulfilled.
Some of the article's passages which apparently aren't visible in the Buffalo region:
NHL officials supervisor Bryan Lewis said Hull's goal counted because he maintained possession of the puck from the time he played it beyond the crease.
"A puck that rebounds off the goalie, the goal post, an opposing player is not deemed to be a change of possession," Lewis said. "Therefore, Hull would be deemed to be in control of the puck, allowed to shoot and score a goal, even though the one foot would be in the crease in advance of the puck."
Many general managers feel the rule penalizes teams for minor infractions that often have nothing to do with a play
You might think the Slugs might have won if not for:
[The Stars] limited the Sabres to a record-low nine goals in six games and only four goals over nearly 12 periods [CHOKE!!!] in the final four games. Only one Sabres forward, Stu Barnes, scored more than one goal, and 40-goal scorer Miroslav Satan was shut out.
[..]
GoaltenderEd Belfour made 53 saves in Game 6 and, by outplaying Hasek, shed forever the tag of not being a big-game goaltender. Hull played the final two games on a left knee that needs reconstructive surgery and with two shredded groin muscles.
Nonetheless, we should always remember that it was the Mighty Skate of Hull that was the sole factor in the Sabres sucking ass and failing to deliver.
Anyone know the Heimlich?
