A solid and sound counter-argument. I would like to point out that choosing a Warlock is not necessarily declaring yourself evil, it means you like playing arguably the best PvP class in the game (as well as saving your party from certain demise with a handy Soul Stone).

excellent comment and beautifully written too. I just wish all blog entries were as articulate, insightful and thought provoking. Nice one
Personally I don't have or feel I need any justification for playing a particular race in WoW, are any other character based game, I vary it a great deal. However, I would by lying if i said i do not have a bias, albeit one i usually ignore. I am more attracted to less intelligent, less confrontational 'human looking' characters - like Rogues for instance.
I wonder why?

When such a discussion is almost welcome, it remains fruitless for the one and only reason - most people chose their avatars by the whim of a moment, and not after careful consideration and research, which to tell he truth doesn't required to play this particular game. The part of the debate were people try to explain how they extend their characters into real life should seriously consider play time reduction or an account cancellation (in a severe cases). When its always nice to talk about the game, especially WoW, this particular issues are left behind the moment I turn off my game.
PS. I am an alliance player, but to think that Horde is evil is really narrow minded.

Hi
You stated on slashdot that you couldn't play DVDs on ubuntu. You should try installing gxine from aptitude, it will install the stuff you need (libdvdcss) to play encrypted DVDs. The default player on ubuntu is Totem, but Totem is crap, gxine/mplayer are you best bets.

I would like to mention that on Mag the Horde tend to do more ganking than Alliance. and on more than one occasion when getting a group together in front of an instance, though we could easily kill the couple horde there, we didn't but once more of them show up they started attacking us. so to B honest it skews opinions toward Horde = evil (@least on Mag)
I do have an IRL friend who has an undead mage, and is far from "evil" or "dark" as a person could possibly be.

Actually, the first few quest lines given by the Forsaken are quite evil. Remember the 'new plague' quest line? The one that abruptly stopped and made you go 'huh?'. That quest line was to create a new plague to kill all remaining humans on Azeroth.
Also, the Undead Warlock quest for their Succubus? "Go find a man who is in love and true to his wife, then kill him and rip his heart out." That's pretty evil.
As a culture, the Forsaken are bitter, angry, vengeful, and xenophobic (and rightfully so). Still, they seem to be driven not by self defense, but by the urge to kill all living things. I'd say that qualifies as evil.
Oh yeah, my main is a 70 Undead Frost Mage. Frost > Fire.

Let me first state that your father's little remark was disgusting.
Now, with that out of the way: Yes, calling the Horde "evil" is silly. However, passing moral judgment on the Alliance (the comment about "concentration camps," for example) is equally so. (In my opinion, there are only two overwhelmingly "good" races in WoW, and there's one in each faction. But I digress.)
For example, on my primary server, I've had the exact opposite experience from what you describe: High-level Alliance players look out for their faction's lowbies; high-level Horde have no interests or concerns beyond raiding and ganking. (And as low-level Horde have no interests or concerns beyond whining about random topics in trade channel, it's literally impossible to find a good guild Horde-side on Anvilmar). In either case, it's not an issue with the faction; it's an issue with the players on that server.
By the way, in case you hadn't noticed...the Horde's got their own elves now. Dainty, mincing, fine-boned elves who are ten times prissier, more "civilized," and more elitist than the Alliance's night elves, no less.

Did some checking on the lore; it turns out that humans did put orcs in prison camps. Although these were not the death camps that the phrase "concentration camp" implies, I will put your comment down to poor wording rather than smear tactics.
As to high-level Alliance characters coming into Horde starting areas to gank? Still a player issue, rather than one of faction. And to be honest, it kind of serves you right for being on a PvP server.
