I don't have much to say about the Bible per se, but I have been reading Karen Armstrong's book "The Great Transformation." It's about the Axial Age philosophers and what led up to them.

As I mentioned on the Harry Potter forum at Chamber of Secrets in the "Is the Bible True?" thread that when I read about the Yahweh of the Bible of what the people in that time were into, I want to run screaming from the room. No offense to them, but they were real nutjobs. It doesn't help the whole region was like from the days of Sumeria.

When compared to what was going on in India and China, there is no question in my mind that there is something profoundly wrong with the Levant. Even Greece managed to straighten itself out.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.
