Sometimes, and sadly, the best part of such conferences are "the loot".

Other times, the best part is the group of people you get to associate with.

Seldom is the best part the presentations themselves.

I wonder what the deal was about the presenters? Did classroom teachers not apply to be a presenter? I agree with you that that is what I really want to see, and if they aren't currently in the classroom I don't want to be there just to hear a sales pitch.
