My district got new math books for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 this year. We were supposed to pilot texts for pre-calc/trig and statistics next year, and perhaps even calculus, but piloting has been postponed for at least a year.

Was thinking the same thing; should have to wait to retire until you have grandkids to spoil. 30, at least.

I retired at 55 and took a large cut in retirement pay from STRS...it didn't bother me....I just don't drive an Escalade or a Porsche. I love my Toyota

Ahhh, California. The state where I could never teach but I could hang out in the mountains or on the beach. Hey that rhymes... like Schwarzenegger/make the schools like beggars....
A bit slap-happy thinking about 8 BILLION dollars cut from schools in one state alone. Yipes.
