I hadn't heard about the Holt/McDougall-Littell merge. Our district is fairly large (over 40,000 students) and we just bought Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry books from McD-L.

Man, don't you hate it when that happens? And I've always thought of Holt's products as being second rate.

This conference was good FOR you and good TO you! I especially like the e-mail-dialogue-between-historical-figures idea (although I have NO idea how I'd use it in math or language arts!). Thanks for passing it on, Polski!

The conference sounded wonderful - and it sounds like you received some great resources too.
I hate it when publishing companies merge. Schools still need the services from the old company (EX: replacement textbooks).
And, what is up with the "let's create a new ocean" thing?? New to me!

That email activity reminded me of several other good things I've seen using 'new' tools. I posted them here

I just heard about this ocean thing from my 7th grade daughter. I'm fairly intelligent and it caught me off guard. Do expand on this spiral notebook idea. My students couldn't keep up with their heads if they weren't attached to their bodies.
