Read McCourt's book now--it'll help you get through the rest of the year!

I never have a summer reading plan. I just go to the library and browse and pull what looks good off the shelf. I get some of my best reads that way. Saturday I found The Wild Braid: A Poet Reflects on a Century in the Garden by Stanley Kunitz. It's delicious!

Gravatar I don't remember the particulars of Teacher Man, but I remember it was a pretty fast, easy read. And I liked it. I vote for reading it now.

Gravatar I usually devour books during the summer break! I'm going to finish The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett and I've got A Thousand Splendid Suns on the shelf for after that. If you like historical fiction, you might like Year of Wonders, which is about the plague.

I usually try to read at least one professional book so I'm going to read Marzano's Classroom Instruction that Works which will teach me how to teach them to take notes, I think. Enjoy your summer reading!

Gravatar I used to work on school stuff, but I'm trying to cut back. You need some time to decompress.

Gravatar I usually read 30+ books each summer and fewer throughout the year. I read legal thrillers, contemporary fiction and listen to biographies, teacher bios, memoirs on Mp3.

Here's some good ones I've read or listened to this month "Look Me in the Eye" John Elder Robison (Augusten Burroughs brother), "Dry" by Augusten Burroughs, "Wasted" and "Madness" by Mayra Hornbacher and "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris.

I've saved the best for last---I just started a new one this weekend called The Genius by Jesse Kellerman. The plot is so intriging I can't wait to get back to it--- (darn work!!) An art gallery owner is given dozens of boxes filled with intricate 8 1/2 X 11 drawings. The artist is missing but the drawings, which fit together in a huge montage, contain clues to solving a cold case. I read so much that I'm always glad to find a new plot line!!

Gravatar I love to read all summer, not taking any classes this year, so I joined a book study. Need to get on my principal's good side. her favorites get all the perks and I'm out in the cold.
