We had to turn our grades in 10 days before school ended too. After that, the kids knew they didn't have to do anything--and they didn't. What a waste!

How do you turn-in grades before school is over? We had exams ending on June 5th. Grades had to be in June 6th at 9AM. At least students took the exam. Or more accurately, some of them showed up.

Must be depressing to live your life only looking for the negative aspects of your job. I feel bad for you.

I always loved it when the orchestra, band, and chorus teachers wanted me to excuse students for practice at the end of the year....YaHoooooo. There should be no problem turning in grades 10 days before school is out. I always tell the students their grades and mention that during the last 10 days, and anytime during the summer, I can change their grade! Never had any problems.

I would forgive the band and orchestra teachers, having been an orchestra and later band geek myself, IF for all this extra time they spend with their students, they wouldn't SOUND like a herd of cats being given cold-water enemas when they play their instruments.

"Parents call and express their amazement as to how their child is failing your class."
Or, they hover over their computer monitors, waiting for the online grades to go up, then call your classroom and the principal because their tender snowflake didn't get the grade he (apparently) so deserved!
I enjoy your blog! Have a great summer!

Thanks for making me laugh. The end of the school year is always a little crazy, and I can tell that you view it with a sense of humor. Have a great summer.

After reading this I should forward it to my school administration along with a big, fat "thank you". Ours runs like clockwork, and grades are due no later than three days (or so) *after* school is out. The only exception is for seniors who might be in danger of not graduating--we get those grades in before graduation, of course.
