I hadn't heard anything about teach appreciation day. I am furious.

Taco cart is a GREAT idea! We had a coffee shop on wheels on campus to mix up some iced coffee. Carne asada would have been nice, but with temps over 100, iced treats were well appreciated!

We were given lunch bags by the school board. My wife tells me they are all the rage. I didn't give a crap about it because when the school board members came into class I was giving a test to my AP History class and they are harder than hell. The kids were not amused. I guess it's the thought that counts. We just passed a levy and everybody is giddy as hell.

A plastic bowl full of lollipops (Dum-Dums, I kid you not) appeared on the table in the faclty lounge. What a message!

One of the advantages of teaching at a well-to-do school is that the PTSA hooks us up with a *great* appreciation lunch for events like this.
And get this--the local Chick-Fil-A brought two heated containers of chicken sandwiches to our school (and, I assume, others). Completely unsolicited, completely a surprise. I don't know what anyone else did, but I made sure to send a thank-you email to the manager. I want to reinforce good behavior so it happens again!

We got a little coupon good for one free scoop of ice cream at the local ice creamery. That was all.
But, the governor of Iowa did deem it necessary for us to all get a pay raise just because teacher pay sucks. That's what happens when you elect a former teacher as governor.
