Sorry to hear that CA is going through such craziness.
The only reassuring thing I can share with you is that we are going through the same thing in MA with towns and cities cutting teacher positions too.
We need to figure out a different way to pay for public education because the current plan is NOT working! :-(
You expect the CTA to do something? The CTA endorsed most of those people. You know what that "D" means after their name? It means "friend of education". Just ask the CTA types, they'll tell you.
One other point. By asking why CTA doesn't do something here, you're making the assumption that the CTA is about education. You have much to learn, young Padwan 
That's why I moved to Nevada in 1993. CA still has not recovered from having Grey Davis as the Governor.

This problem predates Davis by *many* years.
California cannot afford to teach and feed Mexico's illegal alien children. Wake Up California! California is getting what it deserves for allowing sanctuary cities and towns. You have to get rid of these open border idiots in the legislature and the major cities.
