Gravatar I dunno. I'm not Jewish or even religious, but I find it easier and easier to sympathise with the Israelis and easier and easier to hate the Islamists. I mean, after 40 years of crapola, ye olde Israelis realised they might as well f*** off out of Gaza and what happens? Killing spree!!

Gravatar I've been to both Israel and the occupied territories many times and am Jewish. For the love of G-d!!! What you are saying is a highly misguided version of reality and by that I mean REALITY...Palestinians can be brutal, making them more brutal on Israel's door step doesn't seem like a proper solution from where I am standing. If you have the opportunity go visit Hebron where some hundreds of - I don't even know what to call them - settlers give all Jewish people an incredibly bad name. The Arab population there would have to do much more than a few terrorist attacks to actually proportionally respond to the awful away they are treated there everyday for many years already and for the look of it many to come...they were kind and respectful to me and by no means were all radical and hostile. We were supposed to be kosher but we are in the middle of highly dirty business...

Gravatar So you approve of punitive expeditions Pommy? The fact is that punitive expeditions kill innocent people. You can be exasperated by this evil act but that doesn't mean you should consent to more evil in response.

If someone commits a horrible crime do you want him locked up or his neighbor?

Both Hamas and the Israeli responses are evil. Sometimes life ain't black and white.

Gravatar I agree with Ben...

And just as the fanatical extremists on the Israeli side (they DO exist, there are lots of them) don't represent all Israelis, neither can Hamas accurately be said to represent the inclinations of all (or even most) Palestinians.

Both sides are wrong. Frequently.

Gravatar When missiles were raining down on Sderot, and Israel raided Gaza in an attempt to stop them, they were harshly criticized as responding "disproportionally". Which raises the question-- what would be a "proportionate repsonse"? Here's an interesting article that explores that very issue-- with a poll where you can express your views! Israel: Options for proportionality in Gaza.
