Hello. Interesting and nice-looking blog. I'm with you on Mandela, Churchill, Giuliani and Houellebecq, whom I would also regard as a musical hero. I'm ashamed to say I didn't know of Admiral Arthur Phillip. My musical heros have to be Piaf, Aznavour, Rod Stewart and Katherine Jenkins. My literary heroine is de Beauvoir.

Deng certainly is the controversial choice but he did have the guts and the common sense to end Mao's disastrous policies.

My real heroes died before I could meet them and all I could do was hear about who they were. If I'd been able to know them personally I probably wouldn't have thought so highly of them, because that's how people are.
