Love to read that other people have the same sort of kitchen disasters that routinely befall me ... you're so right, adaptability is the only way to go - bet the ice-cream is/was popular

Just like me - I wander off and wander into my own little dream world! But you retrieved the situation beautifully, and caramel over ice cream sounds wonderful!

My last fudge experience produced a tray of gloop that had't boiled for long enough which I then had to scrape back into the pan and re-boil getting a sticky mess everywhere and turning a 10 minute cooking task into a half hour chore - grrrr
I love your blog by the way

That's just the kind of thing I'd do! But pretty sure I wouldn't remain so cool and collected...
You know, it looks exactly like American brittle or bark, so I think it was in fact a very successful candy making venture. And it must be absolutely delicious on ice cream.

I cannot for the life of me make fudge. It always ends up horribly grainy and not fit for anything.
Caramel on ice cream sounds yummy!

Looks delicious. Like the idea of putting a positive spin on cooking mishaps.

Yes , it happens to the best of us !!
The opposite happened to me , I was trying to make toffees but no one told me that humidity & heat can stop the whole caramelising thing happening.
