Yes! I think I would love to wear Birch in blue. I would sit on my patio in the afternoon and drink tea and wrap up in it.

My husband and I sing that song too on occasion - just in the way you mentioned. That makes me smile. I hope you get some rest soon!

Oh dear. I've just come from In This Life, where Isabelle is having a huge worry, to yours, where you are too. Maybe you should get together and share worries till you can't be bothered any more. You know everything is going to be ok in the end, really. And if it isn't, worrying in advance won't have helped much. Better to knit! Beastie Boys reminds me of my son's turbulent teens, where I could have a good worry whenever I liked...... Knit, and eat chocolate.

That is going to be beautiful! Wishing you all the best. I hate waking up in the night worrying and it seems like I've been doing that a lot lately too. We need sleep!

Beautiful shawl! What is it about shawl knitting that is so comforting I wonder -- been knitting them lately myself?
I understand your worry mode I think. I've just gotten an offer on my house, and I'm so filled with angst over it (want to sell/don't want to sell, should sell/don't want to sell. . .) that I can't sleep either and find myself drinking unusual amounts of whiskey lately .
Angels watch over you & yours & everything will sort itself out in the end (I keep telling myself this too).
Blessings to you,
G

Here's a hopefully pleasant diversion for you...
I just received a delicious package in the post today...my lovely 'Handmade by Rebecca' exceptionally cute tea cosy completed its journey cross the sea and is now happily at home in our cottage!
Quite a splendid purchase, I must say. Love the linen...super addition of always delicious Liberty fabric...can't wait until cool weather comes again so I can give it a proper introduction into our family life! Every house needs one!!
So while you may find yourself awake at 2am, perhaps you will lull yourself back to sleep with the sugarplum thoughts of happy customers like me!

Well, I have learned in the last week to just give into whatever comes my way. I hope that you have a wonderful move and that your sellers' dog does not get sprayed with skunk the night before you move in (like mine did). Um, yeah, that was pleasant...

moving does that to ones nerves. i lost on my last one a box full with my fav. designers cloth. i still pine after it.
the color of your birch is gorgeous, and reading that it is cashmere, gives it a whole other level of yumminess.
i wish you an eventless, fast and easy move,
x

Those nights of elusive sleep are hard to bear. Hope meditative knitting proves helpful. The good news is, at least the end is in sight.

I've had a fancy for Birch for a while now so maybe I should have a go. (A chance to choose some new yarn!!)
On more serious matters, when you're all settled in your new home you'll look back on this stressful time and laugh.

Bea wore her little ‘Rebecca’ outfit yesterday and we got stopped 3 times in the street, by STRANGERS to say how fantastic it was…and twice so far today as well. Dont worry about the Beastie Boys echo, I usually get The Who's "Out of my Brain on the Train" in my head when under pressure.

The worst thing about worrying about things in the middle of the night, is that they seem so much worse than they really are. You wake up in the morning, feeling tired, but thinking 'what on earth was the problem really?'
We've had lots of lovely sunshine here, so keep daydreaming about that Pimm's. Love the colour of that shawl by the way.

You always seem to choose the best jewel tones ever. i love this rich pink and blue you picked up on the road trip; and the purples in the crotchet blanket and the red in the scarf!

When I am really anxious like that I just tell myself that it is amazing how much I can do running on adrenalin and no sleep...so I don't need to worry about not sleeping. Which seems to help me stop worrying and actually go to sleep.
I am not going to try and explain myself - I accept that it is illogical.

Moving is always stressful, and so much more so when you're doing it basically on your own.
Your vision of the future, wearing Birch, is really lovely. Hang on to that - it's not that far away!

Wow, you are stressed and I really think that pink little pile of fluff is definitely the way to go! Most gorgeous. Eventually life settles down again....in the meantime, there is knitting. Hugs! And lots of cups of tea.

Wishing you peaceful and stressfree nights. Moving is so hard isn't it. We loved the Happy Mondays, Stone Roses etc in our festival days, I am too fond of the comfy life now to do all that!
