Wasn't it a fab week? I never expected such lovely weather. Loved watching the beach from early morning onwards - first the dog walkers, then the surfers, then everyone else. And what's more, at the end of the day - no litter, quite astonishing.

Now you understand my love affair with Southern California beaches. I don't surf but watching the surfers and body boarders, walking the sands with my toes in the salt water, and gazing at those rollers coming in, and in again, never ever gets boring.

I love bodyboarding too. I never thought I would be seen in a wetsuit in public but they really are the most fabulous invention. Suddenly the British seaside is fun again!

I learnt to bodyboard in Cornwall too, last year. Never thought I'd enjoy it but the thrill when you get a good wave and keep going for ages... (I had to get over my initial 'I'm not wearing that!' fear of wetsuits though And the beaches, they're just unique.
Did you go to the Tate by the way? I loved the building.
