It's a pretty edgy memorial, that's for sure.
Would I have picked a red crescent? Probably not.
Do I think it's "appeasement?" Not necessarily. Given that random Muslims -- or even random Brown people, regardless of their religious affiliation -- in the days, weeks, months and years following 9/11 got stared-down, strip-searched, and generally shat-upon by many... well... it's up for you to decide how we, as the non-Brown, non-Muslim part of society, might go about atoning for these lousy things we've done.
(Then again, you might just think that racial profiling is fine and dandy. I must say, when I read further down in the article on JWR proudly touting Malkin as the author of a book which puportedly promotes racial profiling... yeah... I'm a little suspicious. "Innocent until proven guilty," anyone?)
Yeah, though... a red crescent... that's probably one of the last things I'd put in a memorial like this. Makes ya think, I'll give it that.

Thank you.
I have some notes set aside on the art of profiling for later, just for little ole you!

I'd rather not, thanks. I believe in the equality of all peoples, regardless of ethnicity, country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, religious beliefs, height, weight, shoe size, or pretty much anything else you could possibly dream up.
(Interacting with people from all around the world on a daily basis sorta does that to a person.)
