Three reasons to pray for America

Gravatar From Wikipedia:

The following groups consider themselves to be Muslims, but are not considered Islamic by the majority of Muslims or Muslim authorities:
* The Nation of Islam
* The Zikris
* The Qadianis (or Ahmadiyya)

...sorta like how Jehovah's Witnesses see themselves as Christian, but a lot of Christians would dispute that.

Gravatar No argument from me! My point is more that Farrakhan still gets face time in the media even though he is demonstrably a whack-job/fruitcake/nutcase/loony-bin reject/ whatever you prefer.

Mormons and Jehova's witnesses are both classified as cults- just like Dave Koresh and the Branch Dividians were. I'm still worked up over those nutcase self-proclaimed Baptists in Woodbridge Ok who think that "God is killing soldiers because of our country's acceptance of gays." Yikes-get away from me SATAN!

I have said it before and reitirate: Christians are not perfect, and not all Christians are truly acting of Jesus as they are supposed to be. We see this every day. To determine the veracity of a statement, hold it to the Bible. If the litmus test fails, then it isn't Christian.

Gravatar Christians are not perfect. Muslims are not perfect. It's... um... sorta endemic to our species.

Pat Robertson says crazy things. Should that discredit all Christians? No.

Farrakhan says crazy things. Should that discredit all Muslims? No.

I must say, bringing up how crazy Farrakhan appears to be on what is obviously a Christianity-based blog seems a bit... um... straw-man-like. "Look how nutty this guy is! Man, Islam sure is one wrong religion." Meanwhile, NOI is only tangentially related to Islam.

Let's say I ran a real rah-rah-Islam blog in... um... let's say... Oman, and routinely put up bits about how nutty Christians are. Then I put up a posting by Jack Van Impe and his stick-woman wife, real fire-and-brimstone stuff, all the fags are going to hell, that kind of thing. Or cut-and-pasted some Jehovah's Witness proclamation from decades ago about how the world was going to end in 1975.

Just sayin', is all.

Gravatar Well, I do understand the nature of your question. I will attempt to clarify:

Again, with the reference to Farrakhan- it is more against the media continuing to promote him then it is HIM. I would call anyone who asserts that they have "ridden on an alien spaceship" nuts-ok?

I do not associate Farrakhan with Islam, just as I don't associate the Westborough Baptist Church with my local Baptist church's thoughts. Having the same name doesn't mean much, it is more what they hold sacred and how they act on it.

I comment on the media, culture, and do so from a christian perspective. Will I get it right 100% of the time? Unlikely. I do this to vent my righteous indignation. By the nature of that act I will sometimes be more emotional and not communicate fully my thoughts. If I had taken more time on this article, I would have pointed out that Farrakhan is a fringe element to most Muslims. Unfortunately I assumed most people understood that.

I also was attempting to point out that the act of giving Farrakhan a microphone is so much dog-and-pony show because of the stupid things he says and not real journalism. Farrakhan is the same as a David Duke in my mind- a hate monger.
