I am truly disturbed. How is it that this one issue has united Republican and Democrat and me with that Satan-worshipping shrew? Strange things are afoot.
It makes me even more curious about what is going on behind the scenes and who benefits from the deal. How could this be the battle that elicits Bush's first wielding of the veto sword? There is SO much more to this than meets the eye.

It's the guy on the grassy knoll with the umbrella! Bush Sr. Flew to UAE in a SR-71 Blackhawk in secret.
Seriously, things are usually not as contrived and complicated as we try to make them**.

Things usually are quite simple (follow the money), but the public story is so rarely true. If someone in the 80's would have said that the US was selling arms to Iran to fund the contras, he would have been dismissed as a conspiracy theorist. But, alas, so much was going on behind the scenes.
Even in cases that I have litigated, any time there has been press interest, the public story and the internal story almost never resembled each other.
