Since athletes are typically morons, it's no wonder they are limited to cliches. You forgot the one about thanking God for helping him with the winning jump shot. Seeing as God has nothing better to do than fix basketball games.
Politicians - cliches are their tools of trade. It is more shocking to come across a politician who actually offers substance. Bush and his junta have mastered the art of cliches.
Yikes you sure are quick with the sterotypes? I went to High School with a state championship basketball team full of highly intelligent players. None are professional atheltetes, but at least one played AAA level ball on scholarship at Vandy.
With that said; you are correct God isn't really in the business of fixing ballgames. He did turn water to wine to make a wedding more festive, so he definitely lets his hair down on occasion.
As for junta... let's just say that I likely enjoy their cliches more than I do from CHUKKY.
