Bear in mind, this would be for the CLIENT only, no server running locally, and I would expect that it would only work over the WLAN connection, not necessarily the Edge network.

If I have a database server on the Net, which I would like to access from an iPhone, I would use a web server as interface to retrieve and update data.
I think there would be more interesting features, e.g. mouse-based backup and restore, which also means easier database updating.

Why not just SSH from the iPhone to your server and use PSQL functions at that point ?
