Posthegemonic Comments

Gravatar Stuff White People Like - which is most certainly hilarious - was extensively discussed at Adam Kotsko's blog and that, apparently, came from an even longer discussion at Unfogged.

Gravatar Just had a look over at those threads... what a trainwreck! Still, nothing's funnier (if also very often more excruciatingly painful) than the comments over at the original blog itself. Amazing stuff.

Gravatar The comments on the "About" page are wonderful ranging from "I'm white and I hate all of these things!" to "I'm black and I love all of these things!" The speculation on the race of the author(s) is great - "they hate white people! they have to be black racists!" or "you sound a lot like a bunch of asians I know!" Great and terrifying. It seems, however, that the author(s) are Canadian - they seem to know too much about Toronto and Vancouver to possibly be American.

The picture on the "About" page reminds me a poster for an anthropology/archaeology study abroad program in South America. Quite wonderful.

I maintain that I am, at best, only 43% white - which, as someone has pointed out, means that I'm 100% white because white people love to quantify and worry about how white they are.

Gravatar For what it's worth, I reckon I'm about 130% white, not least (for similar reasons as the one you identify) because I get such a kick out of the site itself.

Gravatar Oh, and that photo on the "about" page is indeed priceless.
