Posthegemonic Comments

Gravatar Jon: I'm new to this site -- interested, but struggling. I've read Multitude, and never considered that the concept could possibly be discussed, analysed or exemplified, except as a kind of horizon where events will unfold.

And I've never before heard of the concept of Hegemony used in connection with cultural studies or anything else, other than the dominance of states over regions.

The following remark absolutely terrifies me: ". . . while in the insistence of conatus the multitude constitutes a resonant community through quotidian encounters."

Could you suggest one or two basic texts (in English) that might orient me in this field?

And you might answer one question: if attempting to visualize the multitude as a class or group or event is incorrect because it affirms hegemony, how can we visualize it at all?
