Really great Jon--I wonder how much narcotraffickers can be compared to pirates along these lines.
Was it "The Meaning of Life" (M. Python) that had the skyscraper-pirate ships in it?

Yes, indeed, it was The Meaning of Life. Perhaps I can find an image...

Well, I can't find a suitable image, but I do discover that it's listed as a separate short film: The Crimson Permanent Assurance.

I've only gotten around to reading Leeson's book now and it is as bad - if not worse - than you say it is. His system of referencing is truly magnificent.

Craig, heh. Meanwhile, I received Small Boats, Weak States, Dirty Money but haven't had time to look at it yet. Hope to get to it before long.

Small Boats was also rather unimpressive, but for different reasons. Despite the tiny amount of contemporary piracy, the author would have us believe that they are a serious - if not the most serious - threat to the stability of the world order. He likely can't help himself, doing international relations and security studies. His definition of piracy is uselessly expansive: basically, any crime involving either boats or people working on boats whether the crime occurs in open seas, in port, or on land.

Ufff, I still have to get to Small Boats. By the end of the month, I hope.
