Gravatar To hell with Zimbabwe. Let the Africans deal with Africa. That's what they wanted! They're murdering white farmers in a state-sponsored vendeta, they're stealing the farms, they're desimating the country! Let them starve, let them freeze, and so forth.

That is nature! That is how species evolve, learn, adapt, and so forth! Leave the damn Africans alone and let them rise out of the African nightmare by evolving to be a smarter, better subspecies of humans.

And sod-off, all of you idiotic Christian whimps. You're suiciding the West into the dust-bin of history, along with the Marxists who pushed whites to leave Africa to Africans.

Gravatar As an ex-policeman (in Zimbabwe) I have no query with removing illegal structures or illegal persons - my problem is the manner in which it was done!

To knock a persons house down while they're still in it, or to destroy the tuck shops that were being run whilst goods are inside to me is inhuman. Yes, there are criminal elements present in any informal sector of this nature, but by and large, the persons making business here are just trying to make a living for their families.

The epitome of the very nature of these flea markets is reflected in the name given one of the larger ones in Mbare - "Mupedzanhamo" or "ending all our social and economic problems".

With unemployment running at around 80%, can we blame these people for trying to do something productive in the informal sector? I believe that the powers that be could have dealt with this in a far more reasonable and less destructive manner.

Gravatar Let me add that I know that Mugabe isn't a saint, but at least get the story straight of why that housing development was demolished.

Gravatar Wait a sec.

Get the entire story correct before you go screaming bloody murder. That entire development was an illegal one and there were continuous warnings to the persons there that they were breaking the laws of that country and should leave that sector. They didn't leave, so the government enforced its LAWS!

Mugabe did what he had to so that the country could move forward. When criminal behaviour and other illicit acts are being hidden by illegal immigrants who squat on land that they should have not been on in the first place, something has to be done.

I know! Let's migrate all of those "unfortunate" displaced to the US so that they can squat on some of your land and continue their illicit acts...

Gravatar Ref your challenge to politicians - google "Kate Hoey" and see how this Labour MP from Vauxhall in the UK risked her own life to travel to Zimbabwe to see the situation for herself.

Now she is calling for direct action by her party leader, Prime Minister Tony Blair - not that I think she'll get much by way of response more than Jack Straw (Foreign Secretary) murmuring "You cad!" in Mugabe's general direction every now and then...

Ta for the 'hat tip'.

Take care.

Gravatar The clearest/bigger picture is on my blog - wrote about it last weekend:

Sad to see the country of my youth being destroyed like this - now people know why why left 6 years ago...

Gravatar Terry Smith you are a twit. To call the anti-apartheid movement "politically correct" is a sick and disgusting statement that totally disrespects the tens of thousand of people (black and white) that died or were murdered fighting what was basically a neo-fascist dictatorship. No matter what the people who deposed apartheid have become, there is no denying that they are responsible for freeing a people who were enslaved in a supposedly "modern" and "civilised" country. There is nothing civilised about making a man crawl like a dog in shit simply for the color of his skin, so if that is the "civilisation" that the anti-apartheid movement deposed, then good riddance to it, and see you all in hell.

And somehow stating that this is an opportunity for anti-American bashing is foolish and immature. If the United States insists on spreading rhetoric to the effect that ALL forms of dictatorship and repressive, anti-human rights governments need to be deposed? Moreover that the US has the RIGHT and DUTY to destroy these regimes? Then when something like this happens and they do NOTHING, they look like (bigger) idiots. The fact that the Dutch or French are not doing anything is a -complete- misnomer, because unlike the USA they are not chanting "regime change" and "spreading democracy" from the rooftops.

The day that the Americans begin to actually give a shit and believe in their own rhetoric, rather than realpolitik, is the day that people like you won't have to worry about "anti-American" sentiment.

P.S. - This is an excellent blog.

Gravatar Dutch, French, British, Americans....
Nobody should stay passive in the face of a humanitarian catatrophe. It is not about finger-pointing, it is about stopping a madman.

Gravatar The satellite pics are from Kurier, an Austrian daily. http://kurier.at/ausland/1026632.php

Gravatar $ 750,000,000 = 4 days Iraq war

Gravatar I guess you can give a pass to the Dutch that turned their backs on them too. But then again, bashing the Dutch isn't in fashion as it is with bashing the U.S.

OH! And don't forget the $750,000,000 we sent to Africa in aid

What is France, the most nuanced country in the world, doing about this?

Gravatar These satellite pictures are very poor. I can't make out any detail at all. And what is the lat long location, the times, and the sources of the images?

Gravatar Could the UK be catering to the usual US bashing that they are more occupied trying to tear up the Iraqi elections,...hello George Galloway.

Gravatar The reason this is allowed by the world community is that Mugabe has two strokes in his favour - he's black and he's a communist. This makes him politically correct and this never had anything to do with any kind of justice or decency. Only political correctness.

No matter what he does, world politicians know that if seriously oppose him they will be decried as a racist and the entire formidable movement that destroyed apartheid will turn on them, and it's mean. I distinctly remember that barefoot white runner girl, Zola Budd, from South Africa being SHRIEKED at by demonstrators at a track meet on TV. They didn't hesitate for a second to HATE a little girl for their political cause. She wiped out under stress and took Mary Decker with her. Two great athletic careers destroyed for politics and no one seemed to care.

The agenda of the world anti-apartheid movement was never to help black folks in Africa, but to destroy white people there, a racist yet politically correct act against western civilization in general and white people in particular.

That is why you will never see any action by the people who worked so hard to put him into power in the first place in the name of justice, they care so very much etc yet are now strangely quiet.

When Mandella (a great man) dies, South Africa will follow this path. They are only waiting.

Gravatar that happens in India too, only, the 'pseudo-seculars' prevent that once the 'exercises' start.

Gravatar you got a bigger picture??
