The price a litre of gas is about half than it is in Europe. The difference is just caused by taxation.

Question regarding refinery capacity:
If all the refineries are at max. production, then the amount of crude oil sold (shipped) would be constant or drop. Does anyone know the numbers on the amount of crude shipped during this period of claimed refinery max. capacity?

''This energy source should be sold to consumers at twice the price to convince that industry and this wasteful consumer society we have must be reformed. ''
Well Marc, I do hope you are directing that comment at American consumers. The last time I filled my car I paid €1.10 (USD 1.35)for one liter. What is the price for a gallon of petrol in the US at the moment?

Dr. Hamilton points out Sweet and Sour it may be a little of both. A shortage of light sweet crude and a shortage of refining capacity for heavy sour crude.

Lord,
Very interesting point. I never thought of it that way. I just believed the Saudi 's and commentators that the price of oil was the result of shortage of refining capacity.
I don't know whats right but you certainly have given me something to think about.

It is a real good thing thar the price of OIL is going up. The debate must be opened worldwide. We must at least make last the resource at least 100 years. And it is not with what we call "The American Dream" which will lead us directly to another world war, if countries like India and China adop the same habits as the USA. This energy source should be sold to consumers at twice the price to convince that industry and this wasteful consumer society we have must be reformed. And by the way we musr get of people like George W. Bush or any politician completely oblivious to this proble. The Club of Rome was right.

Of course if there actually were a refining shortage, crude prices would drop rather than rise since there would be insufficient demand for it. But blame the other guys.
