heels, sox & steelers

Gee, Ryan, from the look of your Labels, you'd think you had something against the Pats. Exactly when is Satan coming to collect on the plethora of souls the Patriots obviously owe him, anyway? Or is he the one running the team already?

Gravatar My inclination is to root for the Colts just to shut up everyone about the Patriots.

But think back to 2004. In the bye week, the Jets played the Patriots, in what was considered a very big game, with the Patriots record streak on the line and the Steelers coming up the next week. The national TV people had Jerome Bettis on as a commentator and he said he was rooting for the Patriots, because he wanted the Steelers to be the the ones to break the streak. (I had been thinking the same thing myself.)

And so it was.

So in that spirit, I hope the Patriots win, but not by much. Maybe on their defense.

Gravatar Unrelated question. About ten years ago, the Steelers had a game when they were up 28-0 on the Packers at halftime but barely held on to win. Does someone know when exactly that was?

Gravatar Wasn't that a Monday night game?

Gravatar I'm a bit surprised and disappointed. Not only did I send out formal e-vites, but I purchased food, drinks and moved the furniture around. To my shock - the Super Bowl isn't being played today.

As a matter of fact, I noticed that there are several other games today. And one tonight, and one tomorrow night and more next week....

Gravatar I'm not afraid to admit i'll be watching the Seahawks-Browns game instead. I mean, that one means more to us right now, so that's where i'm at......

Gravatar Unrelated question. About ten years ago, the Steelers had a game when they were up 28-0 on the Packers at halftime but barely held on to win. Does someone know when exactly that was?

That was in '98 or '99 (probably '9. The Steelers led 27-0 at one point, and then hung on for a 27-20 victory. And yes, I'm pretty sure it was a Monday Nighter.

Gravatar Er... that was supposed to be: "probably '98"

Gravatar In 1995 we played at Green Bay the last week of the Season and lost after Yancey Thigpen dropped a pass in the End Zone - 24-19. Not sure if that is the game you are thinking about...

Gravatar Somehow, Carmen Electra is on countdown and, man, she seems to have really let herself go. A far cry from when she was the topic of all my nightly dreams.

Also, I wouldn't touch Jillian Barberie with Tom Brady's pees and carrot.

Gravatar 1998 was correct - 27-20 Steelers...

http://www.pro-football-referenc...ams/ pit1998.htm

The Carmen Electra segment was awful.

Gravatar So... in terms of pragmatic rooting interests, should we be more worried about the Bengals catching up in the division, or the Bills making a run at a wildcard and competing with the Steelers (should they lose the division)?

Obviously, I would prefer to watch the Bengals get crushed, but I'm also paranoid about all these playoff scenarios. If the Bengals are truly out of contention, then perhaps it would be better for an intra-AFC win to go to them than to the Bills.

Gravatar Pull for the Bills and worry about the logistics later.

Gravatar Bengals defense is off to a great start.

Gravatar Bills on tyhe bengals 8. (NFL says second and eleven!)

Gravatar Oh, and according to Jay Glazer on FOX McCalister and Rolle are out tomorrow night and it doesn't look good for Todd Heap.

Oh, and touchdown Bills after review......

Gravatar So, while waiting for the referee to review the Bills' TD, I switched to the Packers game just in time to see Favre throw a pick. I have great timing.

Gravatar Saints go down on the opening drive against JAX and kick a FG, then recover an onsides kick with no Jaguar anywhere near the ball.

They are down to the JAX 6.

Gravatar Nice catch and run by Watson there.

Gravatar And the Bengals answer.

Gravatar Could this a game be a shootout? That'd be fun.

Gravatar I'm really spoiled - the Bills/Bengals game is not in HD....that makes it very difficult to watch.

Currently I'm rockin' the Red Zone Channel....

Gravatar Warrick Dunn really needs to lose that necklace....

Gravatar Hmm. Losman pretty much just chucked up a prayer. Luckily for him, it wasn't picked.

Gravatar Quinn Gray just threw an eighty yard TD pass.

Gravatar I like the FoxSports.com Scoreboard - plus it has a countdown to kickoff for the Steeler game....

Gravatar SteelerBill -- I'm right there with you. Once I saw the Bengals-Bills wasn't in HD, it dropped off the viewing list. Red Zone Channel, baby.

Gravatar You know, the rules for protecting QBs are a joke. Some guy for the Chiefs basically tapped Favre on the head while falling backwards. Penalty, automatic first down.

Gravatar The Bengals might want to consider putting a guy or two on the Bills tight ends.

Gravatar And J.P. Losman might want to reconsider this, "Hey, let me throw up a prayer and see what happens" strategy.

Gravatar Leon Hall gets beaten on the "fake inside, go outside" move again, but Losman underthrows the ball, and Hall intercepts it.

Gravatar If losman was aiming for a coffin corner punt, he did well.

Gravatar The Bengals can't run at all (at least not wit Rudi Johnson) but Buffalo can't stop the pass.

Gravatar Saints and Jaguars 17-17 as the first quarter ends.

Gravatar The Jags game has seen an 80-yard touchdown pass and a 100-yard kickoff return, plus the on-side kick and who knows what else.

Gravatar Supposedly Jay Cutler was carte off th field for the Broncos. Also, in that game, Jon Kitna is 4-of-12 for 57 yards. God is not impressed.

Gravatar Lions leading 13-0, regardless of the kitna stats.

Gravatar Bad series for the Bills from the 1-yard line.

Field goal time.

Gravatar How are the Jets beating Washington 17-6?

Gravatar Leon Washington took the opening kickoff all the way back.

Gravatar Adam...Cutler is hurt....Patrick Ramsey is your Denver QB

Gravatar Well.

Gravatar Nice work Buffalo. Stuffed at the one on three plays, have to settle for a field goal, then give up a touchdown on the kickoff.

14-10 Bengals.

Gravatar Re: Jets/Skins - Mangini came from New England and runs a similar scheme - perhaps the Skins have been exposed a bit...

Gravatar Heads up play by Green Bay's Vernand Morency. Favre threw a pass to Morency, but it got tipped and Morency couldn't catch it. However, it looked like a backwards pass and thus a potential fumble, and Morency then kicked it out of bounds. He got penalized for it, of course, but it was a smart play.

Gravatar And Favre follows that up by tossing a pick with about 25 seconds left in the half. Oops.

Gravatar Chiefs immediately go deep, incomplete pass but pass interference on GB in the endzone...

Gravatar Bills have to settle for another field goal.

Gravatar Larry Johnson, TD. And now the Chiefs lead, 7-6. All thanks to Favre.

Gravatar Del Pio has thrown a challenge flag because he didn't get a penalty for intentional grounding. I wouldn't think you can do that.

Gravatar That's Del Rio.

Gravatar Bad day to be a QB - Tavaris Jackson has a 'head injury'....

Gravatar And a worse day to be on Special Teams - 109 Yard FG Return for the Chargers...(who host Indy next week)

Gravatar So we've got three kickoff returns for a TD and now a Field Goal return.

Hopefully Mr. Rossum continues the fun tomorrow night......

Gravatar On second thought Israel - I believe I had Del Pio last night.

Gravatar ...or maybe that was the name of the restaurant...

Gravatar Lee Evans is having himself a day.

Gravatar From Jay Glazer's column today on FoxSports.com (oh by the way he picks the Pats by two touchdowns):

ETC: Big Ben Rothlisberger should be licking his chops for tomorrow night's matchup as both the Ravens' starting corners Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle are out. Rolle had a setback at his house of an illness that has plagued him this season. ...

Gravatar Bills kick another field goal to take the lead 16-14. Dick Jauron is the most conservative coach ever.

Gravatar Vince Young just wins football games. 13-0 Titans, despite Youngs 12-of-18, 94 yard, two interception performance to this point.

Gravatar Ramsey sacked on the one, loses the ball and Detroit recovers to go up 23-0.

Gravatar Palmer thought he drew the Bills offsides and took a knee, only there was no flag. Loss of down. Then on third down he connected with Johnson who face planted right into the turf.

Buffalo's trading field goals for touchdowns is going to bite them just like it bit Cincy last week.

Gravatar Man, I love watching the RedZone Channel when the Steelers aren't playing.

Gravatar 15 carried for 113 yards for Adrian Peterson after his 64 yard TD Run.

Oh and TD Bengals.

Oh by the way - Indy at San Diego next week....

Gravatar MeToo.....me too....

Gravatar Jets pick off Jason Campbell

Gravatar And Philip Rivers pulls a Rex Grossman - Vikes ball...

Gravatar Ho Hum...Adrian Peterson rips off a 64-yard touchdown run. He's got 114 yards on something like 12 carries.

Gravatar You know, it's amazing how many times guys get open in goal to go situations. With so little space, you'd think it would be tough to get open.

Bengals back on top.

Gravatar And McGee almost joined the return-man scorers....

Gravatar Vikes fumble in the Red Zone - Chargers ball...

Gravatar Saints intercept Quinn Gray on fourth and four, with a seventy-five yard TD return.

Gravatar And, Bills held to a field goal, again.

Gravatar Lions go 95 yards on two long passes. 30-0.

Gravatar Chad Johnson with a huge drop on a long pass on third down...

Gravatar Adam Podlesh - the punter JAX took in the fourth round - has four punts today with an average of 36.5, with a long of 41.

We did better.

Gravatar Gentlemen I give you Brooks Bollinger - TD Vikes.

Gravatar ARE gets the two-point conversion for the Redskins and they have taken the lead over the Jets.

Gravatar Dick Jauron not only wears a skirt, he wears a flowing evening gown with sparking sequence and a matching hair clip all while he carries a designer handbag with a poodle in it.

My God man...shoe some stones. Marvin Lewis thinks your conservative.

Gravatar The Bengals just committed three penalties on an awful punt, and the Bills start first-and-10 on the Cincy 36.

Gravatar Did the Bengals just commit three different penalties on one punt?

Gravatar Buffalo starts a drive on CNI 32, after a short punt and penalty. Maybe they can get seven for a change.

Gravatar Bills, TD.

Gravatar And finally, Dick Jauron takes off the skirt.

Gravatar Marshawn Lynch throws the TD pass to Royal.

Gravatar 66 yard INT return. Lions 37-0 over denver.

Gravatar That about sums up the Bengals defense right there......

Gravatar not looking good for cincy.

Gravatar Lions return a fumble. 43-0. Under review.

Gravatar So the Chiefs get a TD to go up on Green Bay, 20-16. They elect to go for 2. Pass play to Bowe, incomplete, but there is pass interference called on the Packers. On the second try, they try a running play. It gets stopped. But, Green Bay is flagged for too many men on the field. Third try: Rushing attempt is good, 22-16 Chiefs.

Gravatar Lions return overturned, but they keep the ball.

Gravatar Buffalo's got a defensive TD in them. They're down 12 with 2:22 left, they have to pass, and somebody is going to take a play off. I'm not naming names on who that might be, however......

Gravatar Man, the Bengals run defense is awesome. Right, Marshawn?

Gravatar THat should read up 12...now down 12.

Gravatar Naturally, Favre follows by hitting Jennings for a 60+ yd TD, and the Packers are leading again.

Gravatar Lots of interesting games in this preview card.

Gravatar And now Huard hits some guy named Webb for a huge gain. Chiefs at the the GB 30 yd line. However, he may not have had his second foot inbounds, and it's getting challenged by the Packers.

Gravatar Chad Johnson just got drilled again. He's down and out for the count.

Gravatar The catch is overturned. KC still at their ~20 yd line.

Gravatar Johnson still down, both training staffs out there and the ambulance is out on the field.

Gravatar The ambulance is on the field for Chad Johnson....

The announcers are talking about him like he's dead - he's only hurt (hopefully)

Gravatar Chiefs are forced to punt, and Charles Woodson returns it about 30 yards to the KC 31 yard line. The play also lasted long enough to get under the two minute warning.

Gravatar Adrian Peterson is over the 250 yard mark.

Gravatar Peterson runs for 46. Min 28 SD 17.

Gravatar Oh by the way, the Lions have hung 44 pts on the Broncos - for those of you wondering the Lions have passed 31 times and run 25 (had to say it)....

Gravatar Wow, San Diego sucks. FWP is gonna have to run his ass off to get that title this year. Oh, and Chester Taylor is putting yards on the now Steroid-less Charger D.

Gravatar There's a line between talking up a big game and completely going off the deep end.

We've taken that line and pissed all over it.

Gravatar The Chiefs defense manages to hold Green Bay to a field goal. It's now 26-22, with a 1:40 left in the game. No timeouts for the Chiefs, though.

Gravatar How many talking heads were talking up the resurgent Chargers over the last three weeks? All of them?

Gravatar TD, Minny. Chargers blow.

Gravatar Palmer throws the pick; that'll be game.
And as I say that, Charles Woodson just pick sixes Huard. It's about to be an 11 point game with 59 seconds left.

Gravatar Adam....what did I miss?

So why if the Lions are winning by 38 are all of their fans gone?

Gravatar What would Belicheat do with a 35-17 lead? Put Adrian Peterson back in and start going for two on the TD's.

Gravatar The Vikings have almost 340 yards rushing today.

Gravatar They're obviously going home to watch the GAME OF THE MILLENIUM.

Gravatar Interesting match up next week then with Indy going to San Diego....

Gravatar Time to change the station, I suppose.

Gravatar They just showed a Brady Manning comparison during the Vikes/SD game. Meteor game, anyone?

Gravatar Apparently, the Chiefs haven't realized that they need 2 scores. They keep dumping off in the middle of the field. Who do they think they are, Andy Reid or Mike Holmgren?

Gravatar 1 Day
4 Hours
16 Minutes

Until the Steelers Kick Off!

Wait, what? Was there another game before that?

Gravatar Huard is sacked; that's ballgame.

Gravatar I'm rooting for GB. If da Burgh can't win it, I'd be down for Brett to retire ala Elway.

Gravatar Hasslebeck was just picked.....Matt, not Elizabeth...

Gravatar Wait, the ball is currently being kicked off in the GAME FOR THE AGES and it's still being preempted by this sad excuse for a game in Minny? Sacrelidge!!!

Gravatar And here locally (Chicago) they have not switched to the Pats game - they are still showing the Chargers game...classic!

Gravatar And the Redskins kick a field goal to win 23-20 in overtime.

Gravatar Belicheat preempted it. He refuses to show the game until he's sure that NE has a 40-point lead.

Gravatar Peterson is up to 293.

Gravatar Brady is yelling.

Gravatar The Colts are showing us the way.

Gravatar Peterson finishes with 296. That's a record, right?

Gravatar looking... It is for a rookie.

Gravatar Wasn't it 295 - Jamal against the Browns?

Gravatar Seattle 7 Cleveland 0

Gravatar TD Seahawks...

Gravatar Yeah, I believe your right.

Gravatar Is anyone else watching Superbowl XLI.V?

Gravatar Cold Peterson go for 2000 in his rookie year? I wish we'd drafted him. Could you imagine a Peterson/Parker two-headed monster?

Gravatar I am watching it.....
Checking in on the other games as well (Raiders/Texans and Seahawks/Browns)

Gravatar Jinxed him.....

Gravatar I hate it when announcers say things like that.

Gravatar Daryl Tapp intercepts Derek Anderson at the Cleveland 47.

Gravatar They are who we... oh, forget it.

Gravatar Texans 7 - Raiders 0

Gravatar Laces OUT!!!

Gravatar Brady on his back. I like it.

Gravatar Colts D is fired up.

Gravatar Brady got that off just in time - 3 and out.

Gravatar Seattle fumbles back to Cleveland. Bodden.

Gravatar Confirmed, Adam. NFL single game record - 296 yards.

Gravatar Would it be too much to ask that the Pats get blown out?

Gravatar Sage Rosenfels is 3-4 for 53 yards. Israel?

Gravatar I'd just like to say that I called it. Said at the beginning of the year Peterson would be special.

Gravatar Bruschi and Vrabel got blown out of thier shoes. If only these guys were in Black and Gold...

Gravatar The Colts... I mean... um, you know what I mean.

Gravatar Oh, and someone just called Addai the second coming of Barry Sanders. Um, yeah. Whatever.

Gravatar Is it possible to have a play longer than 109-yards?

Gravatar Sepulverizer - you would need to get out the tape measure for that one....

Gravatar TD Jamal Lewis

Gravatar And he missed the XPT - 7-6 Seahawks

Gravatar He's mad about his record.

Gravatar I'm mildly annoyed. The TV book claimed that I would be getting the Seahawks-Browns game on Fox. Instead I get... boxing?

Gah!

Gravatar Sage Rosenfels is 3-4 for 53 yards. Israel?

116.67

Gravatar Yeah, keep up the updates. All I'm getting is Superbowl XLI.V

Gravatar I really dislike when announcers make comments like Phil Simms just did '..well if you are going to run on our defense then we are going to run on yours...'

Such a ridiculous statement. That is NOT the reason the Pats are running the ball.

Gravatar The Seahawks are in the Red Zone

Gravatar Hasslebeck is 13-18 161 1-1

Gravatar Hasslebeck is 13-18 161 1-1

94.91

Gravatar TD, TEAM OF DESTINY

Gravatar Statistically, Seattle is taking Cleveland out to the woodshed. But the scoreboard isn't showing it, unfortunately......

Gravatar TD Seahawks....Hasslebeck (not Elizabeth) to Hackett (not Buddy)

Gravatar I have a few Ahrn City beers left from my trip to the Burgh, thinking I may down a few watching this game.

Gravatar So who's the Halftime show?

Gravatar You should really try the Penn Brews. Much better than Iron City and a much larger selection.

Gravatar I have, but I was in a rush last time. Besides, the 2 main Steeler bars down here in VA Beach serve "Imported" Iron City.

Gravatar Great fake by Manning...great fake.

Gravatar Don't like the call though...

Gravatar TD Seahawks - 94 yd punt return

Gravatar Is it me, or is Dallas Clark glacially slow?

Gravatar Nate Burrellson goes 94-yards on a punt return.

21-6 Seattle.

Gravatar My worries about the Browns are abating.

Gravatar Let's (that is all of us) not lose site of the task at hand men...beat Baltimore...

Gravatar aye aye

Gravatar I give him credit, Freeney spins like a top and releases into that near sack. Nice move.

Gravatar In a word New England is 'methodical'

Gravatar Through eight games, Adrian Peterson has 1,036 yards rushing.

Dy-no-mite.

Gravatar And FWP?

Gravatar FWP has 726 yards

Gravatar Boy, if NE loses this game, Holmgren has all the excuses they could ever wants.

Gravatar 21-9 Seattle - Cleveland kicks a FG after not being able to punch it in from the 2

Gravatar Browns just threw three incompletes from the two, then kicked a FG.

Gravatar Great defensive play....

Gravatar Hey, look, Brady is fallible

Gravatar Actually, that looked like a Big Ben Punt/Pick...

Gravatar Rushing Stats to date:

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categor...rue& Submit=Find

Gravatar Jamal Lewis has 7 carries for 9 yards at the Half in Cleveland....

Gravatar I should note, those stats are coming into today....

Gravatar TOUCHDOWN!!!! COLTS!!!!

Gravatar As long as we are on the Stats Kick...

Josh McCown you ask?

4-10 35 yards 2 INT's

Ahh!!!! What happened? I switched to the Raiders game...?????

Gravatar Don't know why I'm so happy about that.

Gravatar Well, Parker can certainly do what Addai just did.

Gravatar Addai got free down the sidelineand ran for the score. the Patriots looked like the Bungles for a second.

Gravatar So who does Belicheat hit with Sith lightning during halftime?

Gravatar Seriously, folks. One three and out. One TD drive. One long drive that ends with an interception. Is there anything there the Steelers defense cannot do?

Gravatar Yeah, guard Ben from the NE Defense.

Gravatar But, Ben sure can make plays out of the pocket better than Manning, so then again...

Gravatar Realizing I normally jump on the announcers, I do have to give credit to Nantz and Simms for broadcasting the game and not making it bigger than what it is.....

Gravatar Browns at the Goal Line

Gravatar Browns first and goal from the one. This time they run it in - on second down.

Extra point is good.

Gravatar TD Browns..

21-16 Seahawks

Gravatar Come on Seattle.

Gravatar It's the sacks I don't think we can duplicate.

Gravatar Gentlemen...what you are seeing here is what happens when the Pats play against a good team that is not intimidated.

Kind of reminds me of College Football - when the big teams stop playing St. Mary's for the Blind and then actually play someone....

Gravatar Dawson having a bad day. A missed extra point, now a kickoff out of bounds.

Gravatar Josh Brown kicks a 38-yard Field Goal.

Seattle 24 Cleveland 16

Gravatar 24-16 Seahawks

Gravatar Great play by Bob Sanders.

Gravatar Troy could do that.

Gravatar ...and he needs to do that tomorrow night....

Gravatar Seattle punts
Cleveland ball on their own 45 - 3 minutes left in the 3rd

Gravatar In the Raiders/Texans tilt (Texans lead 17-3)

Sage Rosenfels 8-16 124 0-1
Josh McCown 7-16 98 0-2

Oh boy...

Gravatar was that a nice int or what?

Gravatar Am I wrong here? CBS has yet to show an update from another game during the Pats/Colts game?

Also, Browns are inside the Seahawks 5....

Gravatar Jamal Lewis runs in for his 3rd TD.
2 point conversion failed
24-22 Seahawks, 4th Quarter.

Gravatar Browns score and fail on the two points. 24-22.

Gravatar See Manning can scramble too...

Gravatar No, they did during halftime. If that even counts.

Gravatar TD Manning

Gravatar This has been a good football game.

Gravatar Indy is playing without four starters today in Harrison, Ugoh and two linebackers.

Something to keep in mind during all of the post-game-of-the-century-madness.

Also, this game has completely shielded the world from TO'S RETURN TO PHILLY!

So, for that, I am at least somewhat grateful.

Gravatar Seahawks are inside the Browns 15

Gravatar I will wait until the very last minute to turn on that game tonight - I do not want to hear Collinsworth....

Gravatar Seahawks to the 8

Gravatar TD Texans
24-10

Gravatar 27-22 Seahawks - under 8 minutes left.

Gravatar Also, this game has completely shielded the world from TO'S RETURN TO PHILLY!

I'm baffled as to why there would be much hype regarding that anyways- didn't Owens "return" to Philly last year?

Gravatar GO Seahawks, Texans, Colts, Eagles.

Gravatar Hey, somebody finally flagged Moss for OPI.

Gravatar Hey, Ryan, someone upstairs does like the Colts.

Gravatar Colts' defense is slowly getting whittled away by injury.

Gravatar This part right here is where the Steelers shine. Run out the clock.

Gravatar Browns down five and driving. On the seattle 37 with three minutes left.

Gravatar Cleveland is on the Seattle 15
2:35 left

Gravatar Ummm Phil...the Colts crowd is hit or miss, right now they are dead quiet....don't tell me they've 'kept it going'....

Gravatar Kellen Winslow drops a pass in the End Zone
3rd and 10 for Cleveland

Gravatar Did anyone else cathc that "SHIT!" just as Addai was tackled?

Gravatar and he makes up for it by catching a ball and getting inside the 1

Gravatar 1st and 10? or 4th down?

Gravatar ...and a challenge by Cleveland! But why? Why not take the extra play and take time off the clock?

Gravatar Seriously Seattle. I hate you.

Gravatar 1st and goal Cleveland inside the one, but they challenged it...they think Kellen got in

Gravatar Great.

Gravatar 2:21 left in the game.

Gravatar Pats with the ball back, just under 4 minutes...

Gravatar Oh boy, let's see what Peyton is made of here....

Gravatar Jamal Lewis' 4th TD of the game...Browns lead

Gravatar TD Satan's Team

Gravatar Browns get the 2 pt conversion and lead 30-27

Gravatar Seattle was winning this game 21-6.

Gravatar satan roots for the browns?

Gravatar But he coaches the Patriots.

Gravatar Seattle has 1st and 10 on their own 40 - 2 minute warning

Gravatar that was dumb.

Gravatar Uh oh

Gravatar What???

Gravatar Seattle has reached mid-field....

Gravatar Damn. Patriots with the ball, 2:25 left, up 4. At the Colts 45.

Gravatar I meant the Colts game Sepulverizer - I'm switching back and forth

Gravatar Seattle is on the Browns 36 first down

Gravatar Tick tick tick tick tick tick

00:35 seconds left

Gravatar Wish I could switch the channel. My wife says she's watching Desperate Housewives if i change the channel.

Gravatar 1st and 10 Seattle on the Browns 15 with 24 seconds left. The Seahawks are out of timeouts

Gravatar I can't handle this much tension on the day BEFORE the Steelers play the Ravens. It's friggin killing me.

Gravatar 2 seconds left! Seattle is on the 3 yard line - here comes the kicking team

Gravatar Cleveland ices the kicker

Gravatar Whew! Almost missed it, but the game of the day is going to overtime

Gravatar And the Ptriots are still the GREATEST IN ANY PLANE OF EXISTENCE. They're kneeling it out.

Gravatar Seattle calls tails and wins the toss...

Gravatar Can I take something out of today, please?

Gravatar end this now, seattle.

Gravatar Gentlemen...time to place your focus on Baltimore....

Gravatar Seattle starts the drive on their own 30

Gravatar We'll all start concentrating after the Brownies lose.

Gravatar Hasslebeck scrambles for a first down - into Browns territory

Gravatar Check that - booth review and now Seattle has a 4th and half yard on the Browns 43 - they are going for it

Gravatar Not sure they got it

Gravatar First Down Browns on their own 43

Gravatar Crap. Gamecenter is slow as hell.

Gravatar ...and now they are reviewing this spot - although I don't think it's close

Gravatar Try foxsports.com

Gravatar Screen Pass to Jamal Lewis - down to the Seahawks 21

Gravatar Way to go Seattle.

Gravatar DAMN IT!!!

Gravatar Thanks for the Fox Sports info, BTW.

Gravatar loved that screen. I am rooting for the Brownies here.
Would love to have them come into Pitt with a big winning streak, so we can just deflate them again.
How much fun can it be to destroy the Brown's hope twice in one season????

Gravatar How can anyone possibly root for the Browns??

Gravatar NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Gravatar Browns win

Gravatar *sigh*

Gravatar Bring on the Ravens

Gravatar Longest thread in HSS history?

Oh, and, screw you Seattle......

Gravatar Could very well be Adam...

Men (thank you again Coach Tomlin) we have one focus and that is the Ravens, that is the only thing we can control.

I have to fly to Detroit in the morning and will be watching the game from my hotel room - the Steeler gear will be the first thing I pack.

Gravatar For the record, i'll be in attendance tomorrow night which bodes well for the Black and Gold......

Gravatar Hence the reason I don't like Collinsworth..he just called New England the greatest team of all time....umm the 70's Steelers? 49ers? Cowboys?

Gravatar The 75 team would grind this team into a pulp. Hell, the 75 Raiders would murder this team (literally).

Gravatar Peyton played just average today..without Harrison he never seems to get the same rhythm going. Reggie Wayne dropped one early that seemed to set a tone..But if you can run the ball. this NE team is eminently beatable. I am feeling much better about the Steeler chances after today.

Too bad Indy forgot about stopping the return game..seemed like NE was getting the ball at their own 40 or better a lot.

Seattle...how many ways do they suck? And could someone please break it to them that they their RB is done?

The game of the cosmic millenium turned out to be just another good football game.Green Bay remains one game behind the Patriots...wow...that puts it into perspective.

Gravatar announcer: Who knew that the Steelers had this secret weapon in Timmons all along? That's his 3rd sack of Brady.

Color guy: They just can't handle his speed off the edge and he also has a pick in coverage. He can do it all.

Announcer: And let's not forget Woodley who has had pressure all day as well! They really know when to spell the older guys at LB ..these Steelers look like a team to beat in the AFC.

hee hee..hope it happens sooon...

Gravatar Well, it's a shame that the Patsies weren't able to run up the score. I hope they go undefeated and lose in the playoffs in the Divisional round.

Gravatar Wait I meant one-defeated.

Gravatar Well, this thread is over the 310 mark. Where did Ryan go?

Gravatar We (yes I said we) are in a very good position here. We play our next two games versus divisional opponents with the opportunity to truly separate ourselves. That said, and I realize it's cliche, we control our own destiny.

It all starts in less than 24 hours...
(I can hear it starting to build - Here we Go Steelers, Here we Go....Here...)

Gravatar Terrible clock management by the Seahawks on their final drive. If you are at the 15 yard line and are throwing all over the other team why go to a draw, which if it doesn't score means that is your last shot. Throw the ball and you get 2 chances at a TD. The next time someone says that Holmgren is a good coach they should point out his shoddy clock management skills.

Gravatar threehundred-thirteenthees

Gravatar "Did you ever notice that when McNabb throws a bad pass that it's really bad..?"
- John Madden

Huh?

Gravatar I'm alive ... barely. I was sitting in the garage with the car running after the Manning fumble. Honestly, though, I feel a lot better about the Steelers' chances after watching the Colts. Of course, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Gravatar Not to be an ass about it, but the response to the Pats winning should be...so? Hey they're a good team, and so are the Colts, but they have 7 games left plus the playoffs....So, they have yet to win anything really....

Last I checked the top seed in the AFC is not a good spot to be in recent vintage....

Plus, I'm looking forward to the throwba

Gravatar ...that is, I'm looking forward to the the Throwbacks tomorrow night.

Gravatar Colts left eight points on the field in nthe first half by kicking short field goals instead of touchdowns. They were missing several starters. They forgot about Randy Moss. They got somewhat lucky on an "interception" ie, fumble recovery, at the end of the game as the Colts were driving.

People are saying "next time, it'll be in New England, so the colts are TOAST!!!"

but really, I think a game in New England almost favors Indy. New England's running game isn't as good as Indy's, IMO. I think a game in the freezing cold with wind, snow, etc. would almost favor Indianapolis. I don't think it would be an advantage for New Engalnd, anyway.

This game told us what we know- the Pats are good, they can be beat, and Tom Brady plays like any other quarterback: well when he has all the time in the world, poorly when he's pressured. I think we have a decent chance. Besides, New England has yet to suffer any costly injury. If a key guy goes out, they might well come down a notch.

Gravatar Just out of curiosity, should the Steelers wear the Throwbacks if we get any home p-word games? (I said if, detractors)

Gravatar The NFL probably has a rule against it.

Gravatar I don't understand how all you guys are so down on the Browns' winning. We lead them now and will play them again next week, so (even if we lose in Foxborough) we should not need any help to take the division from them (or the alsorans).

If we sit as the third seed, wouldn't you be pleased to play a sixth seeded Browns team at Heinz Field, having beaten them twice already?

Would you prefer Jacksonville or Tennessee?

Hard to believe that already in Week 9, there are no other Wild Card candidates, except maybe the Ravens or the worse of the Chargers and the Chiefs. But if I am a betting man, the Wild Cards are two of CLE, JAX and TEN. And the fifth seed beats the fourth seeded West Champions, before losing to the number one seed.

Gravatar (I probably should have saved that insightful post until Ryan opens the Monday Night thread, since no one will read it here.)
