Seems to be a good year to be picking late in the round. I am sure we will find good players and maybe even one impact guy..Personally, I believe any above average OG/C type would improve things by a good margin along our O-line.
I am feeling a bit ashamed I didn't put the work in to have an informed opinion on our draft this year. Next year for sure.
I have been looking up the names some of you have chosen for your mocks and they are many interesting resumes attached to them.

Guys, even if the rumor involving Foote is true, it would probably have nothing to do with drafting Laurinaitis.
Also, it seems unlikely that the Steelers would trade him for an extra pick because they already have nine.
If this rumor is true, the Steelers would be trading Foote most likely to move one of their picks up in the draft, I think.

Also, I know Juan is ready to start, but I'm perfectly happy with three competent ILBs. Moving Foote doesn't seem necessary if the plan is to move up. Just package some of those nine picks who won't make the team to move up. Well, unless the plan is to get into the top 10 or something. Then, well, I'd have to rethink that.

Bryant McFadden was listed by them as one of the two worst picks by the Steelers in the last five drafts.

The Jets gave up Kenyon Coleman, Brett Ratliff, and Abram Elam. Coleman was their starting RDE, but he's 30 yrs old. Ratliff was a backup QB, and Elam was an undrafted FS who apparently did pretty well last year under Mangini. Doesn't seem like the Jets gave up too much, considering they will be changing defensive schemes anyway.
Yes, the Browns get an extra pick in the 2nd round, but I'm not too worried about that.
Of course they select Andre Smith...
Gosselin is 5 for 6 so far. The only one he didn't get was the Sanchez trade.
Plus, Rex Ryan is such a good coach the Jets won't need to use defensive ends anymore.
I don't think the Browns got all that much. Basically 3 mediocre players and a 2nd rounder? Not that great.

Yes Bob...Crabtree turned off a lot of folks with his attitude and the fact that he was traveling with a posse....there was an article in Cleveland about it...
SB -- everyone expected these tackles to go this early. No one expects Wood in the high 20s. Someone could snatch him of course, but there's no way they'll trade up for him.
Steelers are going to sit. The farthest they will move up is around 22nd, because beyond that they would have to give up a 2nd or 3rd rounder this year.
I say let them all take these OT early, chances of them all becoming pro bowlers or even good players are not that great. By the time you are on the 4th 5th and 6th best OTs in the draft, there probably isn't that much difference between them and a guy you can get in the 3rd/4th rounds.
By the way....Mayock is on a role here....

Whoever we take, it will be a bad pick IMO - Unger isn't in the same class as Wood or Mack, and any position other than OL is a bad pick.

Cols - Simmons played well for one year. He then played several years very poorly.
Plenty of NFL players come back from knee injuries or play in spite of diseases like diabetes. Plenty of NFL players look promising then suck. Occam's Razor suggests that Simmons is one of the latter.

I hear where u are going with the trust thing SteelerBill..Im just wondering what was it they saw in Hood over Gilbert....they obviously think that Hood is going to make a more immediate impact on our defense then would Unger/Britton would have on our offensive line play....
I betting it all on them getting Jamon Meredith/Louis Vasquez/Caldwell to still somehow infuse this offensive line with young talent and
a sense of nasty attitude to raise their level of play

Renegade just came on my playlist. Envisioning going to the AFCCG in 2012 and watching Ziggy blow up Joe Flacco on the jumbotron.
I said to a friend that completely aside from the book they wrote about him, I really think Oher is a legit LT who could possibly even be an elite one with good coaching.
I can't believe he fell that far and they didn't move up to get him. I think the Ziggy is just another guy in a weak draft.
Then again..thats why the personnel guys get paid and I get to bitch, bitch bitch for the home team. LOL!
I think Hood is going to be an incredible player in the 3-4 defense...just not sure how he cracks the lineup with Smith and Keisel there...???
I would have wanted an Offensive lineman who I felt would have made a more immediate impact on the offensive line play playing immediately starting for Hartwig or Staples instead of someone who has to crack into a spot on that #1 ranked defense......
and Im not happy at ALL to see the damn Patroits grabbing Ron Brace AND Darius Butler in the 2nd round..like its business as usual...that freaking sucks...
After NE gets finished, whats gonna be left? They are sucking all the life out of the 2nd round and they have 3 3rd rounders as well. Oh joy...
I know its only one pick..but I am already getting that sickening feeling that the Steelers aren't going to mess with the O-line at all. We're fine.
The likelihood of them finding anyone at 64 or later who will have any chance of contributing next year along the line are slim.
I guess I bought into the "trade up in the 2nd and grab DL or OL -whatever you don't take in the 1st" chats and I am now a little pissed.

In other news, we just had a massive cloudburst here..9th floor apt here and we are close to 16 floor ones. Half the roof came off one of them and crushed 3 cars down below! Right before the Steelers pick.Even Jehovah was pissed at that non O-line pick! LOL..

Rob D...its apparent "now" from the Steelers FO stance in the offseason resigning all of the offensive linemen and franchising Starks that they were TOTALLY happy with the O-line play and are looking to improve in other areas...
I will grant them that they are smarter than "us" in figuring that Colon,Kemo, and Hartwig didn't require upgrades...Im wondering what areas do they think we need to upgrade...watch and behold...
and yes Im being sarcastic....
further thoughts...passing Britton and Unger means they have to be thinking Alex Boone and Caldwell later...unless they mean to sign Starks to a long term deal...and are happy with Colon for the long term...then its Caldwell who has to be in their target range now...4th or 5th round...

hmmm..don't get it...why doesn't Pitt move up to grab Smith or Moore since you KNOW Tenn is looking at getting a CB?? guess they are content with settling....
Gosh it would have been nice to say we had a Smith or Moore waiting in the wings for Townsend....especially since McBath is gone...
